why are people complaining about this? they need to make money. it's too bad they aren't balancing the game to encourage more people to spend money but w/e. tt/lore nerds go nuts for buying mechs early apparently.

How is this going to backfire, and what fans other than a few oddballs such as yourself are going to see this in a negative way? This is a great way to do this from now on.
1. Week 1 release hero mech variant.
2. Week 2 release standard variants for MC.
3. Week 3 release standard variants for C-Bills.
4. Profit and game continues.

Because, come on, how can you not feel offended, when marketing is this obvious.
Especially, when it was done differently the last time round:
1.Week:Premium Heavy Metal
2.Week: All other Highlanders for CBs.
3.Week: Profit

This is the same way I feel when entering a shop which tries to sell an old Apple and markets it as if it were a great deal.
Come on, that's playing on the basic human emotions (here greed and impatience) and that leaves me feeling a bit dirty.

I mean I let myself be coaxed to spend my money, but not, when it is this obvious.

Sales of products that nobody buys at a discount are not scam.
Sales of products that actually cost less at higher prices are scam.

boy it's a good thin g NYC has such sound guardians as the Mayor to keep people from buying large sodas too.......(not, the container costs more than the soda to produce, a 2 liter of soda cost about 5 cents USD)

So pretty much EVERYTHING is a scam.

Again. Genius.

Wile I see the smart buisness sence in this... I have to say... THATS LAME!
Maybe if PGI would work a little harder on fixing bugs, game ballance, that community warefare thing that should be ingame someday (date to be determined eventually), and how about that UI 2.0...then I wouldnt mind them doing stuff like this. But at this point I think a little (and when I say a little i mean alot) less money grubbing should be considered. Especially since the content from the last 3 months has been sub par at best.

Realy? Your not able to tell us what`s going on this moment ( DEV Update), bring one new bug after an other online and don`t fix the old stuff HSR is absolutely broken, MM absolutely sucks, you ignore what mostly everyone in this comunity wants (Do something about boating, fix heatmanagement etc) and now you want us to spent more money? You should realy think about your politics.......

Very smart - this is the way that F2P's should make money. Early access and such for paying customers, freeloaders get the same thing if they wait a bit.

Much better than pay only mechs and the like - I hope this promotion is very successful.

Playing a game that is marketed as Free to Play for free does not make one a freeloader.

Good, fair sale, bad timing.

Bet many will not spend money on this because they are literally begging for new info about upcoming features.
I haven't bought phoenix yet for the same reason.

I like norhymes idea about including it for members with a certain amount of money spent monthly though.

Meanwhile it's starting to look like Askthedevs42 is the new creative director update..

Also would point out how many people I know haven't bought the DragonSlayer because they JUST bought a bloody Phoenix Package. NOW we add MC Victors.

SO yeah, timing, I agree is a little ludicrous, for a few reasons. The Chicken Little QQing though is laughable because it's for all the WRONG reasons, and reasonings.

This sale is not a scam. It's early access to an upcoming mech. It says as much in the text. There is nothing about this sale that screams "scam". It tells you exactly what it offers, and tells you the alternative (wait and buy with c-bills).

As I've already said. Exploiting peoples weaknesses (be it stupidity or impatience) is scam.

I'm not gonna buy but it doesn't matter. What matters is there is someone who will. And they'll get scammed.

It's just that pay contents has increased a lot in a short time recently, first the Phoenix package, then a week after yet another Hero mech before CBill variants, and now even CBill variants released earlier for MC only. It just reminds me too much of how most companies usually try to sell as much as they can before closing shop.

It's the summer in the northern hemisphere. Summer is generally a lax purchasing cycle. I would imagine that most digital sales occur during lax periods of activity (Excluding holiday season) to try and spur exchange. It ties in with their (not-so-)weekly challenges to try and draw more of a player base in a time where most people are on vacation or outside enjoying the weather.

I don't see why people fail to understand that this is content. Content worked on by people unrelated to the UI work and bug fixing. It may not be the content you want, but it is content none the less.

still being handled and done by two totally different departments, Marketing ain't writing Code, and (hopefully) Coders aren't running the Marketing side. (Heck the guys knocking out the models and adding the patch are probably on a different coding team then the ones (hopefully) working to fix the major terrain cluster-eff they pulled off last patch.

(Which are only acerbating the LRM issue as you now get STUCK on everything as you try to evade. YAY 45 degree pebbles. Now THAT is a gem of lazy programming and testing)

Pay for Convenience at its most fundamental. Great idea there, and I hope you get lots of sales. One week early access is pretty much ideal from the free player's standpoint, as it doesn't limit them too much while still giving early-adopter whales enough time to show off.

Then that's where we'll have to disagree. This is not exploiting; this is offering a product. If the consumer is too impatient to make an educated decision concerning his purchases, then that is the fault of the consumer, not the service provider. Can't blame big business for individual failings.

Ayup, which could mostly have been prevented with a simple phew sentences posted to their twitter or anything similar.
People want a date or a negative answer, leaving them hanging ain't nice even if they are not obligated to answer.

So here goes the thing about communication again...
But that would be going offtopic. So toodles, off to watch a movie instead of playing this game.

Gotta say, that thought had crossed my mind, too.

Taking cash for new products (Project Phoenix) in advance of when those products can actually be delivered, while neglecting the core business (game balance) feels a lot like a desperate grab for cash to stay afloat. Mortgaging your future cash flow to pay for today's costs rarely turns out well.

Of course I hope this is just a coincidence and not what is really going on.

Yes but I am pretty sure that is just the hangar stuff. Either way my Cutlass and Hornet are ready to go. Thinking of getting a freelancer.
