Lol - Just Got Accused Of Boating Ppcs On My Dragon Slayer

I had a guy in my last match complaining that I was boating PPCs on my Dragon Slayer because I had a good game as was wrecking the enemy team.
I don't boat PPCs. I run one ER PPC backed up by a Gauss, 2 MLs and 2 Streaks. He didn't believe me.
Wow imagine that, you can be effective without boating PPCs hehe, whos going to believe that story.

Much worse considering how much heat they generate vs what my build generates. In fact I generally do worse when I try to boat mostly due to heat of boating vs a balanced build.

It was a solo engagement. He was in a Jagger that I managed to sneak up on and alpha him in the rear left torso. Hit him with everything so he took 10 pt ER PPC, 15 pt Gauss, 10 pts MLs and probably a couple pts of damage from the streaks. That is 35+ damage in one hit so I guess if all you notice is the bright blue PPC shot it would look like it was all coming from multiple PPC. Personally I just think people are so indoctrinated with all the BS about PPCs that they automatically assume it must be boated PPCs when they take alot of damage at one time.

PPC"s honestly dont bug me its rare i die to one of them since i use cover alot. LRM's now THOSE boated **** me off. 1 mech using them is one thing but when there are 300+ LRM's in the air at any given moment of a match my brain starts to hurt.
Not because they are OP or anything, i just hate having to HIDE behind a cover for 15 or so seconds to let all 300 of said missles finally splash into whatever cover i found or smash into the top of my head if my cover doesnt extend 3 or so times the hieight of my mech.
Then i have to wait another 5 or so seconds for any lingering second launches that are hoping i pop my head out so they can reaquire a lock on me.
THATS annoying as hell.

Yeah LRMs can get obnoxious really fast especially if the enemy team is really heavy on them and you have no ECM to counter it.

Best case ever to increase LRM speed...

That was last night. 3 PPC Trebuchet. He kept shutting down because he was alpha striking (especially bad on Tourmaline). My one leg was stripped of armor, but that was it. I just kept whaling on him and blew him up. I wish all PPC boaters were that bad LOL.
Anyway, I think if an Assault fires 1 PPC, people instantly think boater (especially backed up by a Gauss). I had somone claim my Cat K2 was a dual gauss when I only had one installed (before the model update). Some people don't bother to look at targeting info and just spout off.

Didn't want to turn this into a PPC debate but I almost always spectate on the match if I get killed so watch a ton of PPC boaters. I have yet to see one be truly effective. Watched one last night trying to take shot an Atlas of all things. He would fire, miss, fire, shutdown, fire hit the leg, fire, miss, fire, shutdown, fire hit the arm.....all the while all he needed was one stinking ML to the CT and the Altas would have been toast. Eventually he did get lucky and got the final hit in but seriously...6-8 alphas to take him out with a red torso.
Now I know this was a poor player but still all it would have took was a few lighter weapons he could have sustained heatwise and the Altas would have been down much sooner.

The don't look at targeting info, and they certainly don't know possible layouts if they don't play that chassis. I am sure there has been many a claim that non-rs Atlases are boating ppc's when that just isn't possible.

And i generally do tend to look at the targetting data as i need it to identify the best way to engage my chosen

Yeah your right, most people don't even target enemies with "R" let along check out the weapons. Then again I rarely look at the weapons load out myself but that is because I usually have a fairly good idea of what I am going to be up against in each chassis on a worst case basis so there really isn't a need to check the load out. I do however watch the paper doll for damage and vulnerabilities.

I am the same and I never use a boat of any kind. This of course leads me to question the validity of all those claims of PPC boating superiority that I keep hearing about.

Yea, I personally don't consider 2 PPCs a "Boat".

Yea, I just thought the Treb was funny. Some people are good with PPCs, but with it being so prevelant, it is leading to poor builds that could benefit from better loadouts. 6 PPC Stalkers (or really any Assault with a lot of PPCs) and the like are a bit too dangerous, but with smaller mechs like Mediums, it seems like a poor decision. If you do go a large PPC setup in a medium, don't stop at 3, install 5 (if you can fit it) and just go for broke
