CS:GO tried this too, now the "competitive" is more casual than the "casual" queue, because everyone who gets a chubby when they win a round just plays against the casuals so they can feel good about themselves.

'I just play for fun' is an excuse used by low skill players who cannot admit to their inadequacy in every single online game. A good skill based match making system is all that is needed.

And "I play to win" is an excuse used by so-called "competitive" gamers devoid of any accomplishments in real life.

(It works both way, you see)

Yours doesn't even make sense. Play to win is what every great competitor does. Is Michael Jordan a loser devoid of any accomplishments in "real life?"

People who "play to win" even though they seem to have winning as their starting goal, but fun as their ending goal, do seem to be in a well-known psychological situation called "sour grapes." It goes something like this...Someone wants to grab a bunch of grapes but it is too high. He jumps and claws and climbs but no matter what he is unable to reach the grapes. He walks away and says, "Eh, those grapes were sour anyway."

Basketball is a real competitive sport. MWO, which is what we are talking about, is just a video game.

(And it looks like you responded while I was still editing my original post.)
