I would rate this heat penalties idea between "ECM is OK" and "we need 3PV". I believe it does not address the underlying problems.

they havent announced any other changes yet, I highly doubt this is the only feature going to be in the next patch. So chill out and test it first.

people voting for the dmg increase..and then the real issue gets resolved, there will be an SRM apocalypse and then people will be crying for a dmg reduce....no its not better than nothing it may seem better now but i bet its gonan cause even more problems later on...

I didn't see LRM20's mentioned but on the premisie that erppc and ppc paired but fired as a 4 shot alpha won't cause any adittional heat does this mean that the lrm15x2 lrm20x2 won't be generating any extra heat either..for the time being ?

The core of the problem is the ability to have all the damage hit a single point.

No convergence for torso mounted weapons could be a solution...

So is the time limit between firing for example 2xPPC and then another 2xPPC without heat penalty still the 0.5s mentioned before? Because let's face it, that's hardly anything. 1s I think would make more sense.

really ***.......................................... Cause they cant make a change to the damage values when the fix go lives? Do you see what I did there. I thought about the situation. They will know when they fix the issue, and before they put it live, they can tweak damage values down some at the same time.

Or we can sit around and do nothing for who knows how long and have worthless SRMS............................................... Great googley moogley.

You might be right because it apparently takes months, cost hundrends of thousands of dollars and needs at least 20 scientists to change that ONE VALUE as seen with PPC heat scale.

Nice start but the boating penalty needs to go further if it's going to be effective.

Tier the indvidual weapons by damage output for the max alpha
1-6 dmg 5
7-12 dmg 2
13+dmg 1

Use the lowest of these in the group to determine where the penalty starts, and either disable macros or put a "time between chainfire" timer on firing to add the penalty as well.

I suggest you go search the forum for "SRM", any thread with a poll posted in the last two months. You will note that in the polls, all of them have 75% or more supporting an SRM buff of some kind, and some polls have significantly better support, even.

Okay, your turn. Where's your majority?

I flushed it about 5 minutes ago. Darn beans.... <_<

Well they did get one thing right, which was having damage being taken at 100% heat.

I am fine with a 2.0 damage per missile combined with the heat penalty for now. This combined with reduced or removed splash would be acceptable until the hit detection issue is sorted. However it must be re-evaluated once that is fixed!

Heat system should have been aborted at conception.

Then you would not be playing mechwarrior/battletech..

I love how PGI's poll effectively forces us to declare that either "I'm impatient and myopic" or "I trust PGI to balance the game in a timely and effective manner."

Why are AC20's on the list? The only two mechs that can run 2 AC20's have distinct vulnerabilities, built in.

K2: Head hitbox the size of France. Slow.
Jaeger: XL engine is pretty much mandatory, and with it's large, easy to hit, side torsos, this mech is easy to kill with accuracy.

Well, it would seem increasing damage is going to happen. So, let the SRM-aggedon begin on the 16th.

Raising it is fine, as long as you LOWER IT BACK AT THE SAME TIME AS THE FIX.

Even better would to test it in the PTS with the numbers at 2.0 then, lower it as needed per feedback.

I think 1.75 or 1.8 would be better than 2.0, but the way things are now I'm lobbing full volleys onto Atlas Mechs and it's not showing on the Paper Doll even though the Mech glows like daylight, so I'll take any boost I can get for now.

They were only a problem when PGI said they were doing 3 times the damage they were supposed to before. Oh wait there wasn't pages full of rants then and not everyone ran splat cats becuase they are hot. The other reason people probably didnt complain much is because on average more than half of the shots made didn't register. 2.0 is not a bad increase between Heat, tonnage, ammunition and spread its just a nice backup weapon to have. My 4 medium lasers on my hunchback are fired more than my SRM's so I'm guessing thats where the bulk of may damage comes from with quite a bit more accuracy.

Just let this myth die already. Everything is easy to kill with accuracy.
