does heat scale still use 0.5s cooldown? Seems very susceptible to macros.

Even when people use chain fire, they press the fire button as fast as they want to, and its almost never at a 0.5 rate. i don't know why they are picking an arbitrary number to decide the reset on heat penalty.

It also penalizes weapons faster than 0.5.. If it doesn't work for all weapons it doesn't seem like a good method.

heat penalty cooldown should be based on each weapon's refire rate. A percentage of the weapon's recharge rate.

Er. So this is all happening July 16th?

Good lord this is going to be very interesting very fast.

I totally approve of 100% being the overheat threshold.

The rest is scary,

What about the stalkers that mount 2 PPCs and 2 ERPPCs? Can they still fire all 4 without penalty?

Anyone official reading this, can we get more specific information about how the extra heat bump from using 3 PPC's or 2 AC/20's works?

This is very vague.

Also, do you plan to purposely avoid assaults that could mount 2 Gauss and 2 PPC's due to it circumventing this fix?

Thank you.

Oh lastly, did you account for the fact that the Awesome has 3 PPC's in cannon?

Lol always thought sSRM and SRM damage were going to be coupled...

I wouldn't mind a buff of 2.0 for both sSRM and SRMs. Since sSRMs are getting nerfed as well soon, in bone selection.

My OCD doesn't like this, but if this is setting a precedence it means the LBX10 can be buffed in damage as well. But a LBX10 doing more than 10 damage total is just mind blowing for me.

i'm not sure about the HSR function. but on top of that, this could explain why bigger mechs die faster to SRMs than smaller mechs at the same distance away.

Why is the SSRM heat scale the same as the SRM-2? Really, I think it should be higher. Bigger weapon, more useful by more than double, you know, all that jazz.

Yes, please buff that SRM damage. Yes, it will impact bigger mechs moreso than smaller ones, but that might actually help the current meta a bit!

Yeah I feel like this is implemented a little wrong.

Wouldn't it make sense to have an Alpha Limit value of 10.

Each PPC is 5 alpha limit, each ER PPC is 5 alpha limit.

Each Ac20 is 10 alpha limit.

Now if you fire any combination of weapons in a single alpha strike you'll want to fit under the spread? Do we really care that they are exactly the same weapon type?

The interesting part of this system, is then you can assign different alpha limits to different mechs. You could let the hunchback be more of an alpha striker.. for example.

I've always been fine with SRM's only going to 2.0 and it should be a hotfix. Sorry you guys were supposed to increase damage over 2 months ago. So please hotfix.

Question: Will PPCs and ERPPCs count as the same for this penalty? Or will the Stalkers just have to run two of each to avoid the extra heat?

EDIT: Not the first to ask this I see.

EDIT 2: This has been answered. In case you missed it, they will be different at first, but that will change very soon after.

They could always introduce "weapon families"
ERPPC/PPC ERLL/LL etc.

weapons families fired in group uses the highest "Max Alpha" and boating penalty of the weapon in the group for every weapon in the group.

would be useful for when clan tek comes in as well.

Thing is i dont agree with the streak version. They will be coming out as said in previous post with the Streak 6 packs. These have a very high chance to hit. If they do increase streaks to 2.0 they need to provide a half second lock time just to go in the initial direction of target and thats it.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: This alpha strike heat penalty is one of the worst ways you could fix the current metagame problems. Balance the weapons themselves and you don't need silly "too many powerful weapons" penalties.

How will this handle people who will inevitably macro a bunch of pairs together?

Is there an internal cooldown between shots to prevent heat penalty or something?

And Gauss Rifles are excluded from the table entirely

also 2PPCs/ERPPCs + Gauss?
