He said it won't make it into the 16th patch, but possibly the 30th patch which surprised me since I thought they were only doing two patches a month.

Stupid is an understatement, cause they ought to have the LRM20s on it, but if they do anything with the LRM10s and LRM5s it kills the viability of those weapon systems.

They should just redo the heat system instead.

Keep in mind that was a per shot 10 heat. You'll last a fraction of a second before shutting down.

Not to state the obvious, but in NGNG #78 (I think), Paul or Bryan said that they scrapped the boating heat penalty because "it wasn't easy to understand and even more difficult for new players". So, I'm looking at the list wondering why it isn't full for every weapon and then wondering why it is that they're planning on screwing the new player by implementing something that isn't even remotely intuitive.

All the while, I'm still wondering why:
  • we're adding heat penalties but aren't increasing heat on the worst offenders
  • we still don't have heat penalties to anything we do UNLESS we exceed 100% (ie shut down or pseudo shut down via override)
Its like they're trying to paint a Mona Lisa with one hand and with finger paint.

The problem isn't that people are firing the same weapons, it's that they are dealing too much damage at once. And this does very little to address that.

because the LRM-15 is the only dangerous "boatable" option for lrms. Just shows how dumb this system is.

By dumb I mean they gave penalties to only the dangerous "boatable" weapons, which is kinda stupid in itself, they didn't touch other less dangerous weapons... this really means this system is completely improvised.

In the Command Chair post, Paul mentions towards the bottom that it's going to be lowered to just 100%.
