A solo queue would be an awful change.

It punishes people who play with a friend or two (who are not necessarily perfectly co-ordinated military strategists) by forcing the matchmaker to try to find matches for them in a smaller player pool.

Uh.. no. What it does is open the doors wide open for players to exploit. The can, they do, and they ruin the game for those who truly are PUGs.

Case in point: Match screen loads. You see your own team. 6 people in your team are from the same faction....while not a direct indicator of a premade it usually puts up a red flag. Then you see the mechs they bring. Oh... look.... 4 of them are ECM Atlai. What are the odds? And look! The other 2 are ECM light/mediums.

The match is nothing but a quick steamrolling of the opposing team...they are a mix of assaults and mediums that have very different weapon builds.

It has to match the right team sizes together, while also trying to balance ELO and weights.

There are only 2 possible outcomes:

1. The queue gets longer
2. The matchmaker criteria are relaxed resulting in less balanced matches.

There IS a premade queue. People are not using it. Why? They cannot roll over other teams and make wads of cbills. That is the ONLY reason why. This nonsense of queues being too long is just an excuse not to use the premade queue. The ridiculous amounts of premade teams in pug queue just shows there's plenty of people to populate the premade queue.

... but its more profitable and more ego-stroking to drop into pug teams where they have a significant advantage.

You do not punish people for playing a multiplayer game with their friends.

So.. its ok to punish those who are playing this game just because the people that play with their friends are unwilling to use the queues specifically set up for them? Seriously now... no matter how you try justify it the fact remains unchanged: Premades in Pugs is an exploit of the ELO and the matchmaker system and it gives the premade team an unfair advantage before the match even starts.

There are nights when you can see the same premade groups in matches over and over again... personally I just warn the opposing team at match start, tell their mech types and weapon loadouts that I'm aware of... stand aside and not participate in the match in their favor. I TK their legs off when the brawling begins as well.

I think its hilarious when peoples only response is stick with team. I always stick with team (or largest part I can find if they are spread to the wind)

I always communicate, and I always follow orders.... so what else did people want to say?

The issue is that in a 4 man the group gets to decide what playeers and builds they have, then they get to talk about tactics as the match loads so they already have several big factors already locked down. Once in the game they make organized pushes with everyone and group aim mechs to take them down in 2 seconds flat each. All of this is good teamwork but its meant for a TEAM environment not a random pug environment. PUG players are at an extreme disadvantage.

If you want to roll groups and play a more challenging match then play against other preforms. Using PUG's as a free kill shooting barrel is unacceptable.

I am a mediocre player by my own admission but I understand how tactics work and I ALWAYS work with the team at every possibility. This is not a situation where I am a ****** and run off by myself to get killed, this is a situation where our team communicates, sets up a defensive line somewhere, engages the enemy and then gets steamrolled in less than 2 mins.

and this happens all the time..... preforms have distinct advantages and should be pitted only against other premades.

You say no but fail to explain why I am wrong...

Tell me of the mythical matchmaker upgrade that they can do which will offer the same criteria & queue times with a smaller player pool! If you can't do that then I'm perfectly correct.

You know, it would be nice to be able to hop on once in a while and just stompy robot at my leisure... but when I forget how things really are, and actually do that, I am promptly reminded that there is no casual play in this game. Get on VOIP, get in a group and get organized or pack it in and log off.
It's incredibly short-sighted and has been since closed beta - which is how far back this simple feature has been requested.

Hi guys, one of my first posts.

Been playing this game pretty hard core for the last month or so. Spent a fortune. I mostly PUG. And when I do (except the weekends) 90% of the time my team is slaughtered. It's simply NOT FUN. The way I see it is that the ONLY fix is to integrate VOIP into the game. Or, a PUG only QUEUE (with NO teaming ability). Please bring a PUG only Queue or VOIP or I'm going to stop PUGGING Sunday to Thursday. And if I stop playing that much I'm going to stop paying for the game.

(BTW you can call me a wallet-warrior. I've put nearly $400 in this game and it's people like me that support this game)

And don't tell me that PUG stomping doesn't exist because I've enjoyed doing it when I've been on Teamspeak a few times. And those folks I pugstomped probably were turned right off the game...

I'm a solo only player, so I would support a solo only queue (why not after all). From an objective standpoint I think its a bit less important than a lobby system (even though I have no intention of using such a system) but after that's implemented I think that a solo only mode would be cool.

Personally I don't really feel its needed, the matchmaker and Elo seems to be doing a pretty decent job In my opinion. It's pretty rare that I'm put in matches where I feel that I really had no chance, even when we lose by a landslide it usually doesn't feel like we were just cannon fodder, sometimes the other team just wins the momentum and this can create a cascading effect. Pre Elo it was a different story, oftentimes (maybe 5-10%, although it felt like a lot more) I would be put in matches where I had absolutely no chance and I was just a victim. That just sucked.

Edit: remember that the clever thing about Elo is that those people that create 4-mans to farm solo players will pretty quickly get pushed into a much higher Elo bracket and so they will play with each other (so they end up at a disadvantage if they ever want to play solo).

Im glad elo is before tonnage. a horrible newb in an atlas is canon fodder for an elite light or medium pilot

just need tonnage limits.

It would be nice to solo drop with any premades in the mix. but i dont mind dropping with/against premades either, all the more challenging when 4 guys are focus firing you.
