I don't believe you.

Which part? I only recently bought a HM(well after the addition of JJ shake), own no other Highlanders, own every Cataphract except the 3D...

Or the vision part? I don't play any FPS other than MWO, the visual reasons being the main reason. I also don't sit too close to the screen at the theater.

My point here is... WTF HELLO!!! WHERE IS IT BLOODY WELL EXPLAINED! YOU KNOW IN DETAIL BY PGI!

Paul said that firing lots of weapons would cause heat to grow exponentially, what you describe is linear. He also said firing one extra wouldn't be that bad a penalty. I know... PAUL SAID so we can assume instantly that he was wrong. Having said that I'd still like a clear frickin explanation!

Good to see Paul is living up to his self-appellation of "Minister of Misinformation".

With the Streak targeting change, this makes the SSRM one of the most useless pieces of hardware available. Thre rates of the Streak hitting a particular part - of which you can't determine anymore - will translate to an incredible increase in light's surviveability. Without a damage buff it's almost as useless as MGs on fully armored mechs.

If I got to point it out the comparable damage output of the SSRM is likely going to be too low.

At the very least SSRM should be the same as SRM damage to 2.0 with that streak pathing.

I completely disagree.

Streaks are still an easy-to-use, 100% hit weapon. They SHOULDN'T do as much damage as standard SRMs if they're auto-targeting. They'll still be a deterrent to lights, they just won't core them out incredibly quickly like they used to. And you should be aiming at a Light's legs. God forbid you have to actually aim, though.

And regarding the reduced reticle shake: poptarters are still going to be affected by the new heat-scaling too, so they won't be able to put 3PPCs and a Gauss on their target all at once, and their aim still won't be pinpoint. They might have a better chance of hitting their target, but they won't be able to alpha a single spot on their target. (i.e. Viable, but not OP)

How exactly does that heat scale multiplier work?

3rd ppc = 7 more heat in addition to it's 8 heat?

or

3rd ppc = 7*8 heat for 56 heat on the third ppc?

Yeah, the latter seems a bit excessive, but then, why would it be called a multiplier?

Or is it some kind of base value that goes undescribed in the patch notes?

Funny, none of those are mechs that will be affected by the #yoloswagidiotfix.

You keep Streaks at 1.5 damage? Why? Should be equal damage to SRMs.

Streaks target all body parts fairly equally except head? I can understand making the head less of a chance but why the "Streak Shield"?

If an Arm is blown off the Streak finds a different location, if an Leg is blown off Streaks are now 85% effective?

Honestly guys, I know there are a bunch of whiners out there about Streaks but how is this patch fair?

they should probably forget the lore reasons for keeping SRM and sSRM same damage. it would be way too complicated to line them up without either one being OP or UP. Same goes for AC10 and LBX10

but sSRMs are probably going to need a buff after this nerf.

This will have a penalty starting from the next patch on July 30th. Paul said so.

Pretty sure it's how Urdnot explained it, I.E. for 3 PPC it would be 3 * 8 + ( 1 * 7)

The alternative would mean you would produce 80 heat for one 3 PPC Alpha.

it's a simple multiplication: Multiplier * Heat penalty
the multiplier is the number of extra weapons being fired (e.g with 3 PPCs you have 1 extra PPC, so multiplier = 1)
Heat penalty varies per weapon (e.g heat penalty for PPCs is 7)

firing 3 PPCs will generate 3 * 8 + (1 * 7 <- heat penalty) heat

That means 7 med. lasers yields,

7*4 + (1*1) <- not so big of a heat penalty

Also, 3 ERPPCs will give off less of a heat penalty than 3 PPCs?

Sounds about right considering their aptitude for Mathematical balance.

Yeah, the "good" fits for cataphracts are all 2xPPC/1xGauss fits, same with the Heavy Metal. None of these will be affected by the #paulsboneheadedidiotideafix #yolo #swag #hashtag.

Also, why wouldn't I like my posts?

I was talking about the JJ shake reduction, not the heat penalty.
