Might have already been asked as I haven't read all 4 pages. Why can't streaks hit the head?

I'd like to understand the math on heat multipliers - like that PGI is concerned about boating, hoping this provides a good outcome, but really like a bit more sophisticated solution long term.

Anything below that would not discourage players from giving up their AC 40 boats (which PGI clearly wants to see eliminated as well as most of the community) because 6 heat per shot is just too low for a 20 Dam alpha.
Now the original AC 40: 6+6 = 12 heat will turn into 6+6+24 = 36 heat. MUAHAHAHAHAHA! Take that Jager-Cheese AC 40 crutchers!

The only mech that should be viable with AC 40 is the King Crab (with his own weaknesses like super low speed and giant hitboxes to balance for the firepower), nothing else.

Well... Hunchback IIC with 2xULTRA AC-20 is smoldering scrap metal then (if ever implemented)... dunno if the dual AC 20 builds deserve such a severe punishment. I don't use them (more in the HGN 2x PPC + Gauss crowd) and the infights against em were pretty challenging without being that uber annoying...

Don't assume you know everything based on what's in the notes.
Devs do not always put every change in patch notes.

That is one thing I would love to see stop, if there is a change they should document it.

Don't be mad cus you can't alpha 4 ppcs anymore.

Nice strawman.

By the way. this system has so many loopholes that it could have been written by the US House of Representatives.

They gave us information and I will utilize that information to discuss the upcoming features until they provide different info. What the hell else are we supposed to do? Just throw our hands in the air and just let changes randomly fly at us without ever trying to contemplate the results of the changes?

Can we just get the raw formula for the Heat Scale in the Command Chair post, or something? Patch hasn't even finished deploying and there are already a million theories on how it works.

biggest loophole is the 0.5s reset timer. Welcome back to macro town.

you thought the AC2 jager macro which circumvented 0.5 chainfire was bad. wait till u see all the macros made to circumvent the heat system based on the 0.5s chainfire.

you make the crux of a new system based on an old flawed system unadapted from MW3, your going to have a bad time.

SRM Damage Buff
SRM damage increased from 1.5 to 2.0
(Note: This is for SRMs only, not SSRMs)

With the Streak targeting change, this makes the SSRM one of the most useless pieces of hardware available. Thre rates of the Streak hitting a particular part - of which you can't determine anymore - will translate to an incredible increase in light's surviveability. Without a damage buff it's almost as useless as MGs on fully armored mechs.

If I got to point it out the comparable damage output of the SSRM is likely going to be too low.

At the very least SSRM should be the same as SRM damage to 2.0 with that streak pathing.

I like the sound of these changes especially the buff to srm but not ssrm damage. Though I'm a bit worried about poptart increases since theres a reduction to shake. Never was a fan of the poptarts...toaster strudel was always better :(

AC 20 + single Gauss is more balanced than the AC 40 we had because
1. You'll have to spend another ton and have the huge risk of Gauss Rifle explosion
2. You'll need TWO different types of ammo
3. You'll deal 5 damage less per alpha
4. you have a mismatch of projectile speed which will make hitting harder.
5. You'll lack DHS with such a balistic heavy build to actually be able to use those MLs.

0.5s is enough time to turn your pinpoint damage to spread dmg.

I think they can hit the head, they just don't target it. If the missile is targeting the CT and the guy turns, it might hit the arm. Unless I am misunderstanding, Targets != Hits

You mean the ones that used to be 3 ppc + guass highlanders that just took a 10 point nerf to their alpha leaving them only with a 35 point alpha, 15 of which travels at a slower speed (making it harder to pinpoint) and is on a different cool down? Also having a bomb in their mechs.

A smaller alpha doesn't change the fact that alpha striking is still the most efficient and effective way to play the game--now you just can't have more than 2 PPCs. Big whup.

Or the ones that used to be 6 ppc stalkers that just had their alpha halved, gained a bomb, larger profile, and needing to use two different weapons that travel at different speeds and cool down.

The 6 PPC Stalker wass a horrible build that only noobs in the underhive used. 4 PPC or 2 PPC + 2 ERPPC was far superior because it could actually sustain its damage longer than a single alpha.

Were streaks in some way broken that they needed to be nerfed? My favorite mech is my commando 2d with 3 streaks. It was barely adequate damage, now I think that mech goes into long term storage until they improve streaks in some way. Why not just remove the weapon altogether if they are gonna make it that nerf?

I really hope it isnt as bad in practice as it sounds on paper (so to speak)

I have a hard time just running my Jenner around Forest Colony sometimes. MWO has always for me been right on the edge of what I can play. I never really got into the poptart scene, but I did run mechs with JJs. The shake was a bit too much. Tuning it down doesn't even have any effect on the weapon spread. The direction the shot fires when the reticule is shaking has nothing to do with the position of the reticule.
I don't believe you.

thats true. but you think its any fun to have everybody firing at 0.5 intervals? every weapon even loosing its distinct identity.

its completely forced.

So you honestly believe this insipid and arbitrary mechanic will inspire any meaningful change in the metagame? Posted Image

Why would you macro a .5 cool down that is achieved just by hitting backspace?

The ac/2 is to fire faster than chain fire while making sure by the 6th the first is cooled down, but this isn't the case
