No its good, it affects zero of my builds because they are all built around sustained firepower and heat efficiency because I don't play like an *****. It forces people to make good mech builds instead of being dumpsters that just boat weapons and try to alpha strike into oblivion over and over.

Super stoked they did it, good job PGI keep it up.

Don't spend any money on this game. Just play for free until these clowns pull their heads out of the sand. Hopefully that happens before they run out of money and totally screw up what--with a competent dev team--would have been a guaranteed home run.

A sad day for MWO, indeed! A great day for MechWarrior though.

The meta is most likely going to shift to 2 ERPPC + Gauss, which suffers no penalties. The change doesn't stop the fact that alpha striking is superior, it merely makes alpha strikers modify their loadouts a little bit.

Nice try though. Do not pass go, do not collect $200.

Actually I am in the same boat or rather not in a boat hehe.

All my builds from the very begining have been mixed builds with the one exception being a Quad LL Stalker I ran for a short time prior to changing over to a mixed LRM, LL, ML build that was more effective.

The whole point of these changes are to get people to use mixed builds more in line with traditional Battletech loadouts without eliminating too much customization and that it exactly what its doing.

Min/Max will still happen but hopefully now it will be around mixed builds not boats.

So you play bad mechs and that makes it a good change? Sorry to rain on your little pride parade, but you'll still be driving bad mechs.

I think this is a terrible way to solve a big problem. A terribly complicated, nonsensical way that violates physics.

Yes, the problem needs to be solved. Just not this way.

I can't go in now and test it, but don't the ERPPC and the Gauss have different cooldown times? If so then you leave yourself a bit exposed defensively while waiting for your next alpha..

That and there are few mechs that can carry those builds which will be immediately recognized and those premade teams will leap to destroy faster than a dog can eat a steak...

And then that means the pugs will have a new B&M topic here in a few hours...

So my atlas DDC with 2 erppc/gauss which I have been using to facerape pubbies is going to be even stronger? Horay for pubbie-demanded nerfs!

Both weapons have a 4 second cooldown. The only real differential is projectile speed, which won't really matter much at medium-short ranges.

I love the responses to this stuff that say things like, "Hah! This won't affect my terrible mixed loadout, which is really a good mech, despite being totally ineffectual!"

I'm wondering how long it is going to take for folks to realize that their garbage mechs are still garbage.

Most of these heat changes are going to have extremely limited impact on good builds.

The boundaries of physics was solved thru trial and error correct? So give some time to see if a better solution can be brought out of the data this one provides...

Ha, I'm going to have to accept this compliment. I pilot a well balanced build. A "bad" mech as you call it. Good for me that I haven't fallen under the one trick pony f*kcs out there who ride eachother's c*cks and copy builds for their point and click instant gratification. More respect to those well balanced builds out there. My hat's off to you. Well balanced = Skilled (they have to group weapons from 3-6 weapons groups if necessary)

One that the pugs use as an example as to why they are never going to play this game again!!

BECAUSE IF IT'S NOT SCOTTISH

I'm actually inclined to say that's ok.

I have a problem with the high-alpha thing, but this one isn't quite as bad as a lot of the others. The high cost and limited alpha of this tends to negate it somewhat.

It generates 23 heat an alpha, requires 32 to 35 tons, and only hits for 35 points.

--- edit ---

It would be even more acceptable if they go ahead with the heat increase for PPCs. A 25 - 27 heat alpha is no small thing.
