- A moderate SRM buff
TWO STEPS BACK
- Streaks can't do anything
- Hilarious heat system that, as predicted, doesn't punish the right people

WHY is this always the way with every patch? This goes back to 2012. They CANNOT give us anything worthwhile without removing more worthwhile things, and it's why that every poll out here overwhelmingly is negative against PGI.
This heat change is terrible. It's completely obliterated previously competent 'mechs like Large Laser mid-range designs, Splatcats, and squishy-but-dangerous AC/20 'mechs.... but hasn't done a thing to PPC + Sniper, not really.
All it did is take out "Baby's first sniper" (6 PPC Stalker) and the popular 4 PPC Stalker. I've spent the morning decimating PUGs that are trying to adapt to the system with a PPC + Gauss Highlander. It feels like somebody took the difficulty from "Normal" to "Very easy." So far, this punishes casual players the worst, while making the late game meta even more stale!
Plus, while it's impossible to get everyone to agree to numbers, but in 30 seconds I was able to edit the database file to make Streaks hit like regular SRMs, but have a very long recycle. I think that'd been fine. Instead now they are a weapon that literally cannot be directed and just goes in every direction wildly and does nothing.
So good job PGI. You fixed SRMs on the altar of killing Streaks, and you punished your casual players that you claim to put first horrendously. You also made the game even more one note at upper levels.
PS: In before this thread is moved to a place "that it might be seen more" to die a quiet death. Can't have game balance threads in the game balance forum!
