ONE STEP FORWARD:

- A moderate SRM buff

TWO STEPS BACK
- Streaks can't do anything
- Hilarious heat system that, as predicted, doesn't punish the right people

--

WHY is this always the way with every patch? This goes back to 2012. They CANNOT give us anything worthwhile without removing more worthwhile things, and it's why that every poll out here overwhelmingly is negative against PGI.

This heat change is terrible. It's completely obliterated previously competent 'mechs like Large Laser mid-range designs, Splatcats, and squishy-but-dangerous AC/20 'mechs.... but hasn't done a thing to PPC + Sniper, not really.

All it did is take out "Baby's first sniper" (6 PPC Stalker) and the popular 4 PPC Stalker. I've spent the morning decimating PUGs that are trying to adapt to the system with a PPC + Gauss Highlander. It feels like somebody took the difficulty from "Normal" to "Very easy." So far, this punishes casual players the worst, while making the late game meta even more stale!

Plus, while it's impossible to get everyone to agree to numbers, but in 30 seconds I was able to edit the database file to make Streaks hit like regular SRMs, but have a very long recycle. I think that'd been fine. Instead now they are a weapon that literally cannot be directed and just goes in every direction wildly and does nothing.

So good job PGI. You fixed SRMs on the altar of killing Streaks, and you punished your casual players that you claim to put first horrendously. You also made the game even more one note at upper levels.

Or in your case, they'll probably just delete it like they have for at least 3 of your posts today.

I should have brought up in the OP that they not only killed Streaks, they killed Streaks with an overly complicated system (randomly making it target bones instead of homing center mass), so score one to this picture again:

What's that country song line I think from John Michael Montgomery:

LIFES A DANCE, YOU LEARN AS YOU GO.

SOMETIMES YOU LEAD, SOMETIMES YOU FOLLOW

DON'T WORRY ABOUT WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW

LIFE'S A DANCE, YOU LEARN AS YOU GO....

they problem is when they fix something they do 2 things to it at once usually. and that doesn't allow testing to see if either actually worked effectively.

the problem could have been solved with just buffing them and not changing the pattern. then in a week after seeing results adjust accordingly. they just go all willy nilly and then expect things to work.

Poor Victor and his damaged ego. The trip to k-town might let you cool your anger off.

Damaged ego?

If anything this both proves my point, and left me in a position to mass-murder PUG gamers. And I am still complaining. Because it's stupid.

If you're running with pre-mades than nothing about murdering PuGs hasn't changed since the Founders invitation to closed beta

I love the new streaks. this is only an SSRM2 afterall. and they work great on light mechs still, they just struggle vs bigger mechs, just like the SRM2 does.

On the contrary, a lot has changed. Plus I'm lone wolfing right now.

Sure PUGs weren't the most capable of pilots but they could still hurt you bad with their PPC Stalkers and AC/20 Jags. Not anymore.

They literally have no defense to the Sniper other than building one themselves, and they haven't caught on yet. They're too busy focusing on SRMs. Which are alright, but no PPC+Gauss.. plus my Highlander carries them as well anyway.

Any system that relies on "A year from now this might balance a weapon that might happen" is very poorly thought out.

And the SRM2 is in EVERY WAY superior to Streaks right now, because you can actually expect it to not go after somebody's worthless shield arm.

Why? You don't like what I'm saying? Or the fact that at this point in time, the polls are way, way down for thinking this was a positive patch?

Because in-game comms are low priority. Again PGI's fault.

They should probably raise the damage per missile up to 2.0 to match regular SRMs now that they are hitting other parts like they're supposed to.

Yeah, at the very least they should be doing regular SRM damage if they're going to scatter all over a 'mech.

How is PGI not creating an in game VC a fault? Especially since there are so many better ones available on the 3rd party market?

In game VC slows down in game data packets and ping times, this has been demonstrated time and time again in other games.
