just bought the 5k because i dont know why but the 4 MG 1 ML build sounded fun to me lol (it has been)
but holy **** i cant show my face to the enemy team without at least 4-5 of them trying to chase me down and i dont mean
"oh look a SPider lets shoot at it till it runs away"
or even
"i better chase this spider for a bit"
no i mean
" FROM HELLS HEART I STAB AT THEE!!!!!"
they will NOT stop chasing me ive ran thru my team and still have people trying to focus on em and follow me.
why do people hate spiders that much?

They most likely got pissed off that whole alphas of theirs were absorbed by the magical black hole that is integrated in the armor of Spiders they met in an earlier match and decided that you are the perfect sandbag to work their frustration on...

They are small, fast and resilient as all hell which makes the choice hard, ignore them for a bigger threat or spend five minutes hunting one down.

because any other Light we shoot at and it falls down. Bloody spiders are apparently invulnerable, and can slip between dimensions to avoid sure shots... even when standing still.
Then....if you ignore them, the bloody pests WILL return.... or Cap you. Hell, I don't fear Stalkers, Atlases, HGNs or AC40 jags in my Victor. I DO fear bloody Spiders.
the better question is, what's NOT to hate about them?

Yeah tell me about it. A Spider got trapped, legged and was immobile and I was only about 100m away directly to his side. It took 4 alphas to kill him.....we are talking AC/20, 3 SRM6s and 2 MLs x 4 Alphas and I think someone else was also shooting at him.

Now it's back to square 1, exactly the same situation as lag shield.

but when their hits are not registering allot they give chase
out of frustration?

I (in my 3x ML SDR-5D) went back to stop a cap at our base and found an opposing SDR (-5V, I think).
We did the dance of the glancing medium lasers for a few rounds, and I gave up ... parked under the cap structure and started swiping at his legs as he passed by.
Then the coolest thing happened ... he stopped right in front of me, and we traded blows (I kept shooting at his leg, he was going after my left torso).
It was like we both knew that while all this running around crap is fun, it's annoying as hell ... let's just get it over with.
(I legged him, his team mate showed up, I ran ... they died to my team mates shortly afterwards.)

Their hitboxes are not bugged like the old Raven's were. The problem they have is shared with other mechs: You hit armor and the opposite end location also takes hit. Aka your front CT armor is gone and internals are deep red...and your rear armor is perfect... you take one hit by a small laser in the rear CT and the front internal blinks..and explodes.
Keep this in mind because this little problem is PART of what makes the spider and commando so durable under fire.
...and this little problem is the only bugged part.
The other half comes from player mis-perception. The players see their quad medium lasers or quad PPCs strike the commando/spider in the chest.
..but the reality is, only one or two of them actually hit. The others have missed because when they were fired the convergence they were set at (the aimpoint) is spreading the weapon beams apart.... wider than the spider or commando's torso.
On top of that, the spider and commando are really fast so it is very hard to keep a laser on target...which means the 20 something 'hit pulses' in each 1 second lase only end up with 4 to 5 pulse hits for a total of a fraction of the damage per beam delivered. The PPC/Ballistics requiring leading the target widen their weapon paths so the rounds almost always tend to hit in FRONT of the spider and behind it.
This is not a bug issue, its simple geometry and player misperception. In their eyes they see the weapons hitting..but they're not. The animation is blinding you to their actual hit location. If you use an AC2 you can see this problem clearly however.
This is also why if a light is running directly away or directly towards you, your weapons will hit PERFECTLY... the convergence is set at the correct distance.
Once you combine the mis-perception issue with the armor hit location issue you realize that:
#1 you aren't hitting the light mech as you think you are but rather a fraction of the times.
#2 that fraction of the damage you are seeing done is being absorbed almost 50% by the armor plate opposite to where you're hitting.. thus almost practically increasing the armor amount in the front and rear by 50%.
This is why to kill any light mech you need to aim at the feet.. the aimpoint will be the ground directly behind them not some object 800m away and the weapons will converge properly. The beams will put more than one or 2 damage pulses during their lase cycle. The feet dont have front/rear armor locations so each leg absorbs the damage properly.
...and a legged light mech is dead.
Once, when... IF ... the hitbox sharing bug is fixed the light mechs will become far more vulnerable to PPC and ballistic hit as the damage would be applied in full to the armor section that got hit... but people will still be thinking 2 ppc blasts hit the light mech where in reality one ppc blast zinged past light's rear armor as it ran lateral to the mech shooting the ppcs.

Also, is a known fact that the giant electro-magnet that is the Jenner's CT actually pulls shots from across the map, bending time and space, to itself. Probably pulling fire from nearby Spiders directly to my Jenner's CT.
