When im static even for a brief moment I get hit very hard by whatever happens to target me. I've never seen that nor seen my hits not register on a spider like that unless I was aiming for its legs and the rounds hit to either side or fly in between the legs (it happens in all mechs).

i have seen shots seem to pass THRU spiders was in my 5 ac2 jager the other day testing the heat issues (okay not testing being curious since anything i dont want change them)

did a group shot on a stationary spider aimed at his CT and its like the shots just missed his left and right torsos and i saw them hit the hill behind him. No damage registered for him either. It's what i imagine the game would be like with convergance lol.

........................... my god what if some coding for convergence leaked in but only in regards to spiders and this is going to be the hell that awaits all soon..... trying to fire at lights that are at closer ranges only to have our shots wiff right past them since we cant aim that close.

I've seen some very strange hit detection before... From the Highlander pilot who had a fit that 'the dead' people were talking and about how he never misses (but visually he certainly did)... To my Cicada in the 12v12 test who watched a shot from behind (I turned my mech away from the shooter) lit up my rear CT and front CT as if the round punched a hole through it (Light mechs often do that, had never seen it on my Cicada before though). Hit detection is very... weird...

Some CT extend to form something like a diaper on the mech... So the lower back is actual part of the front CT, turn you mechs around in the loadout of the mechbay and you'll see.

Yes, I hate Spiders. I try to be smart about when to chase them and when not to - but they are a prime target I focus on when they come into range.

If they exploded like they should (say like a Jenner) rather than shrug off hits I would not hate them so much.

To everyone who graciously ripped my poor little spiders a new one within the first month or two they were released and to all who laughed in my face for piloting one..

Haha, I know what you mean.

In random pug drops I'll often follow a spider through obvious kiting attempts in order to kill him - I know that with my Streak/BAP Jenner he's running, I know he's going to try & run me through his team - I know all this, and honestly I don't care as long as he dies. :ph34r:
I just want him dead, even if it costs half my armour & means I have to play really coy for the rest of the match.

For being so bugged I have a deeply ingrained and (ir)rational hatred of spiders and all who sail in them. :rolleyes:

I actually just started running a spider because it was the only light with ECM and JJ (JJ now being very necessary to get over terrain). And I wanted to be able to counter the ecm on those D-DC Atlas you see around. I see the mech, it's 100m in front of me. Why won't my streaks Lock on!!

BAP will do that for you.
It won't give you the stealth effect of ECM, but it will give you the "counter" effect of ECM, so a Jenner-D with BAP will be able to lock onto enemies who have their own ECM.

I have never had this problem. When I aim at a spider, I either hit it, or I miss due to how quickly it moves. Are they really that prone to bugs?

Yes, they are :P

Your crosshair might well turn red when you hit them, as I think someone said above it's not a lagshield like in early closed when shots would "miss", it's that the shots that do land don't do the right amount of damage most of the time.

Yeah, everyone gets a lucky shot from time to time that kills a spider, thus leading spider pilots to think that they're all-ok, but it's rare that the whole damage is applied, which is why spiders are able to flit through entire battle lines without taking any serious damage (and decent spider pilots can do this with ease, I run with a few regularly).

The hatred seems to also create ******* as some ******** decided to make the armour yellow at the beginning of the match on my legs - FROM MY OWN TEAM.

Still - the hatred works well as I hardly do any damage but a spider jumping around like mad in the middle of the enemy group of mechs tends to redirect fire a lot towards me...

That said - it was not like they had a problem hitting me and damaging me.

While I do think some of what Skyfaller says is right, it's not just a perception issue. Spiders are bigger than commandos, but much much harder to hit- unless you aim for the legs. There is for sure something wrong with the spider's torso hitboxes.

I'm not sure it's a problem that needs to be fixed for the same reasons that I don't think PPC's notorious hitreg problems need to be fixed. It will not improve gameplay to make spiders easier to kill.

They need fixing. I smacked one at point-blank range (while it was powered down) with 2 alpha strikes of 2xERPPC and 1xgauss (a total of 70 damage to its CT) for a grand total of...wait for it...

0 damage. It didn't even allocate due to hit detection.

Horrible hit registration? yep

Hatred? Nope. I can't remember the last time something with 4 mguns killed me (that wasn't accompanied by 3 other mechs)


2.5/10 on the hatred-o-meter


(Unless they are on my team, then its 10/10 -- wishing it was something useful)
