For this formula does the Survive or dead mean if you yourself are alive or dead or for how many people on your team survive and how many on the other team are dead?

Just you, if you lived you get 20 points, if you died you get 10.

Going by the tournament brackets MWO has an active population of about 1500+ players. Played only one game in my stalker and placed only like 50 points? Pretty far back but gives me a good idea on how many players are playing the game. Not sure if 1500 is good or bad

Consider how many just sick from this "balance" and just don't want to opt-in...

Cant imagine the real number being better than when we could see the player count back in closed beta.

Didn't opt in because I didn't care enough. If you don't grab first place, you get enough mc worth one pattern.
Also balance.
Also MM.
Also solo drop.

So many reasons just to continue pugging and hope that one day we might have a nice game going.

I actualy enjoyed this, but to be fair I missed the medium one and was quite new in the heavy challange. So this was pretty much my first realy attemp in one of these.

Not to pick on you specifically, but you do mention it, along with so many others: Do you really think the tourneys would be better if the results from team drops were included? Am I alone in thinking that letting DV8 or really any good team to drop in squads of four and tear into hapless pugs would let the good players dominate the leaderboard by virtue of never having to be on a bad team? I mean, I would be fine with a team tournament, but that's not what this is; this is supposed to be a contest of individual skill, and while having random teammates every time can be frustrating, it gives a better indication of player skill than judging how good a player is when he has three excellent teammates alongside every single match. So what would you propose instead?

p.s. balance and matchmaker are pretty frustrating, but balance is always off, and mm is a necessary evil- again, would you really want players to be able to compete in this tourney using a lobby system? You might as well rename the even "Noob slaughter weekend" if you were able to choose your opponent.

The balancing and cheese issues, I can live with; however the hit detection and matchmaker are so far off, I can't even enjoy this game casually, let alone competitively...opting in will only result in broken PC hardware.

Congrats to BlueCricket. Had the honor of being slapped down in two matches, even when I got the jump on him in the second. Scary fast coring, sir.

Expected to see Slappy[something or other] on the Stalker board - went 1464 dmg / 5 k / 2 a or some such in one memorable match with his splat STK... crazy numbers.

I wonder how much Elo affected this tournament, since you had to solo queue (fill a spot).

I only bring this up because I'm pretty sure my Elo is near the bottom and nearly every game I saw folks from the top 10.

Maybe they used my negative Elo to fill out the ranks and balance teams haha.

Pretty dang close. First time I opted in on one of these events and I placed 27th on the Heavy Leaderboard. Only 100 points more and I would have taken 15th. Good job to all who placed. ^_^v

Thank you, sir!

All in all, I had a lot of fun with this event--certainly more fun than I thought I would have, given the solo-drop requirement. Thanks to all for a good run.

Well done Bluecricket. I guess a few 1k damage/6 kills was just not enough to dislodge you from the top spot. Had a blast with my brawler DDC.

There should be a Tournament only queue, where only tourney players can queue and Elo is disabled, then it's random chance and the same for everyone.

Or, an 8 man tourney.

It was fun, still was harder for me to get in the top 5 with my atlas brawler. It was great to pilot it again, but I got way 2 used to the HGN cheese, I was rusty at brawling.

GJ to those who got into the first 5, was a pleasure to drop with and against you.

I do recommend, to make it team based, at least groups of 4 (12's would be a blast when implemented). Remember this is a team based game, not a solo game.

75% of your success in this tournaments depends on your team. It has nothing to do with the skill.

isn't posting the top 5 on these contests akin to a name and shame thread?

Honestly i think having a clue about how to play the game is probably a good idea before placing input on topics of game design.

Sorry I didnt realize that you where a appointed a judge on who has a clue and who doesn't.

Why don't you tell us how the games go down instead then, rather than making snide and useless comments?

I didn't bother opting in, and I know a lot of other people who felt the same. It's probably not an accurate count of players. As it stands the solo only tournament is too easy to exploit since 8 people on TS can just sync drop and still work as a team. I also know that I'm not good enough and don't have enough time to get in the top 5. I'd rather just play in a group with my friends.

I agree with you, but Kaffeangst is top Elo and still pulling those kinds of numbers. He doesn't waste his time in matches he has no hopes of achieving a top score, but if you're as serious as he is about this why would you? I was in a match with him last night and he did over 1000 damage in a loss.

There's a sweet spot for sure though where your teammates are good enough to not let you get steamrolled, but aren't good enough to poach all your kills.

Yeah, I got tired of 4 kills 4 assists games with 600 damage. The only rounds that actually improved my score were super unbalanced with both teams at a lower skill level, allowing me to steal kills and get as many hits as possible before the main engagement. The tournament was unfair for the people participating and the people not participating. Any games vs the DV8 guys or Kaffe were fairly balanced and didn't get my score anywhere near what it had to be for the number to go up, so I stopped playing after the first day.

Edit: The assault count is absolutely absurd.
