I tuned in and immediately was bombarded by a dude drinking wine from a Franzia box screaming/ranting at other peoples opinions... Immediately closed the video... I am not sure if I was just late to the show or what, but that did not seem productive at all.

My opinion of that anyway.

Yeah, PEEF's stream was a mess... if I would have known how he was acting I would have booted him off our mumble/jabber. I would encourage everyone to avoid that stream as it' s not representative.

EDIT: The Official MWO Community Town Hall audio (unedited) is up! Feel free to listen and comment... look for an edited, concise version in the next few days:

One question though. WHY did they bring down Protections picture? What was so offensive or inappropriate about it?
<S>

My guess, they are scared, the Clans don't win if the Inner Sphere unites against them.

Just what exactly was happening in the third-party streams? There were no players yelling or children screaming during the actual event, and no actual video feed at all. If you were watching any version that involved video, you were very clearly not watching the actual event firsthand. Mumble voice servers do not support video.

It is unfortunate that some had their impression of the townhall discussion sullied by watching arbitrary video streams instead and confusing the two.

I was able to attend last night and I was quite pleased with the outcome.

I've been playing MMOs for a long time now and this was the most constructive thing I've ever seen a community do.

Hats off again to Stalkerr and Jaderaven. You guys were extermely professional and kept everything moving in the right direction while giving everyone an equal say.

Lastly, I want to thank all the guild leaders that showed up. Lots of good points were brought up and everyone was respectful. In particular I was very impressed with Protection, Dustmuffins, GaussDragon and of course, the voice of reason, Homeless Bill.

Thanks again goons.

Not sure, I came to this thread after work last night, and clicked an 'event' link from a post back in this thread.. I thought it was the stream. Then I saw what I saw and left.

Understandable if that was not what was being presented to the masses or devs.

I love TT, but my Clan ER-PPCs in MWO don't need to do 15 damage in order for me to have fun with the game.

Just for point of clarification, the numbers aren't the issue, the core mechanics are, especially those that ensure a proper reproduction of the BT universe. Tuning numbers may be required, certainly. Reference this post for details (again, I don't really want to expound here): http://mwomercs.com/...ea/page__st__60

Hats off to you guys for doing this. I'm a pretty casual player in the grand scheme of things and while I may not be the most well informed guy on these issues, I think a lot of what was said was relevant and important. Here's hoping you achieve your end goals and good on you for organizing the event - if nothing else it's very clear to me that you all care a great deal about the future of this game and I wish you all well in your quest to save MWO.

Oh, I'm part of a small group of IRL buddies that have been playing mechwarrior for 20 years. We're pretty casual and not super-competetive, but we've definitely seen and have been frustrated by quite a few of these game issues.

I'll make sure my guys know about the feed, read the letter, and urge them to sign.

They refuse to change weapon weights and critical slot amount because it will break stock mechs, which is the same reason they have weapons included that are almost never useful. This is my problem with sticking too close to canon, some things have to change because they don't translate to real time or to a non campaign setting (ammo supply lines and such). These things need to change IMO because they were never balanced in TT to begin with, so pulling them and not reworking for a different system is bad upon bad.

But Why bother with weights and slots? I'd much rather go for damage, heat, accuracy and ammo.

Anyway, not every weapon is usefull for mech against mech against combat and the TT is certainly unbalanced, even more so after the introduction of the Clans. Many weapons were designed and rebalanced during ruleset revisions for specific functions. MG's were the main anti-infantry weapon here.

Other weapons were designed for a specific function outside of mech combat. AP Gauss and A-Pods come to mind here, those systems are never going to function in a game like MWO. They would only work if MWO had combined arms in any form.

Actually, the AP Gauss does 3 damage with Medium Laser range. It would quite literally be a ballistic Small Laser. It would work just fine in mech combat.
