Cancer research is universal, so I didn't think twice even though I am from Portugal. My girlfriend is a nurse and works in the Lisbon Oncology Institute. Cancer is not prejudiced, it hits people from every color, religion, country, age... I just hope my purchase goes through.
You are not incorrect. It hits any living creature with lymph nodes. Like so many others in this thread, in the game, and in the real world... I've lost loved ones to the big C as well. If one disease binds humanity together in ways others don't, it's cancer in all of its various forms.
That said, although I agree with PGI's encouragment for everyone donate to your local cancer charities, I would ask that everyone donates to their local cancer charity responsibly. Which is to say, be smart with how much money you donate.
Furthermore, though... do what I do and dedicate 10 minutes to researching your local charity's expenditures on the internet. Cross-reference with other charities and make sure their administrative and fund-raising costs look good. Unfortunately, because cancer is such a wide-spread and inherent disease for humans throughout the world and is so common... there are some cancer societies and charities who are needlessly wasteful with their expenditures and could be considered 'non-profit' only through name and legal status.
Be smart about who you donate to, and always verify charities through third-party research.

Well done PGI. Well done. Thanks for being supportive to the community.
May Sarah's mech carry everyone of our will towards a bright future. Hopefully, in due time, there will be even more cure for cancer patients.
March onwards Sarah. Our Sarah's Jenners' will carry your legacy. o7
