How do I kill people? I shoot them in the cockpit with my guns many times and it does nothing while light mechs can kill me.
I am just really stupid about video games, also it was five years ago that I played battletech, I mostly play 4.0 DnD now which is super streamlined and easy (you can pick it up in less than 10 minutes).
This game is way over my head, I'm not use to action games and I mostly play puzzle games. I'm not trying to be a silly person I'm just literally ******** at this. Also can I claim PMS?
Alright, alright, I can give you that.
Look, the game isn't extremely newbie friendly. And yes, you can die quickly, but there are lots of ways to mitigate that.
Best advice given to most new pilots is "Follow the Atlas". When you start, find a nice, big assault mech in your group, and follow them. Target what they target, and flank if you get the chance, and it's safe. This has two benefits, one being that you have someone near you who is a bigger threat, and the other being that it keeps you from over-extending.
I'm not sure I'd recommend getting a light this early. They die much, much faster than other mechs if not played skillfully.
The Catapults are good, solid mechs. The K2 has a lot going for it.
So yeah, at first, focus on staying alive while doing some damage. Don't worry about kills just yet. This is a game of attrition, so every point of damage counts. Use cover, and stay with your group.
