Wow, okay so that's something terrible. You can die instantly in this game without a chance to fight back. I haven't been able to use my new mech yet because I just die the moment an enemy sees me. Also the aiming is stupid, so amazingly stupid. How do you even aim in this game?

Ok - so put both gauss-rifles in one group. To fire them simultaneously you have to engage "group fire". Now you deliver a damage of 30 points to the point of the enemy you aim at.

Consider the weak point of gauss-rifles: their ammo can't explode but the rifles themself are pretty sensitive to hits and may explode by getting critical hits.

Consider to carry two medium lasers as well. Gauss-rifles need some time to reload. Meanwhile you could fire the lasers to deal instant damage if you are in their range. If you do so, configure a second group of weapons for the lasers. You may then configure a controls-layout with two buttons for firing - one for each group; i.e. left mouse button "fire weapon group one" and right mouse button "fire weapon group two".

Back in the days my first own build was a so called "Gausscat". I loved it and I had many kills with it. Due to some changes in game-balancing Gausscats are not that dangerous as they were once. But it's still a serious threat on the battlefield and the model K2 can be build with large energy-weapons too, if you wanna try.

Okay so how do you farm quickly in this game? I need to because I suddenly regret my catapult and it cost all of my money. I want a light mech and I have 1 million credits and need 1.5 more.

My best advise is to not treat this as TT BattleTech. Instead giving u tons of links witch can be over load. What do not understand ie movement, weapon groups, Aiming. Give me honest answers and i'll give ya some help in those areas. Thou practice practice is the best.

Alright, I'm usually the diplomatic and patient one, and this is trying my ends.

You have already shot down almost every bit of advice that everyone here has given you. You have said that all the mechs are bad, save about 3. You claim to have come from playing Table Top, yet do not want to take time to learn this game, claiming that it's too complex. This is an interesting tidbit for me, considering I know that table top is grossly more complex than this game can ever hope to be.

You are either trolling everyone here, or you have already decided that you are not going to enjoy this game.

This is a very complex game, and it's not set up to be learned in an hour or two. That being said, most everyone here has learned, and enjoyed, far more complex games. Also, this community has more people willing to happily help new players than most I've ever seen.

IF you are honestly wanting help, I'd seriously consider taking somewhat more gracious tone, and not calling every aspect of the game that frustrates you "stupid".

Have a nice morning.

How do I kill people? I shoot them in the cockpit with my guns many times and it does nothing while light mechs can kill me.

I am just really stupid about video games, also it was five years ago that I played battletech, I mostly play 4.0 DnD now which is super streamlined and easy (you can pick it up in less than 10 minutes).

This game is way over my head, I'm not use to action games and I mostly play puzzle games. I'm not trying to be a silly person I'm just literally ******** at this. Also can I claim PMS?

I want to drive a raven, it's the only good mech. Well, honestly the catapult, Atlas and Raven are the only decent mechs in this game. I have no idea why they would hand pick the worst mechs from battle tech; [...] spider, stalker [...] are some of the lowest rated mechs of all time.

I almost fell out of my arm chair because I had to laugh so much reading this...

You do realize there is ZERO recoil, convergence or bullet drop in this game? All you have to do to hit with for example a laser is put your crosshair on the target and press the left mouse button. All you have to do to hit with gauss is lead the target a tiny bit if it is moving sideways. Unless you try to shoot targets at 1500m+ which is outside of max range for pretty much any gun.

Alright, alright, I can give you that.

Look, the game isn't extremely newbie friendly. And yes, you can die quickly, but there are lots of ways to mitigate that.

Best advice given to most new pilots is "Follow the Atlas". When you start, find a nice, big assault mech in your group, and follow them. Target what they target, and flank if you get the chance, and it's safe. This has two benefits, one being that you have someone near you who is a bigger threat, and the other being that it keeps you from over-extending.

I'm not sure I'd recommend getting a light this early. They die much, much faster than other mechs if not played skillfully.

The Catapults are good, solid mechs. The K2 has a lot going for it.

So yeah, at first, focus on staying alive while doing some damage. Don't worry about kills just yet. This is a game of attrition, so every point of damage counts. Use cover, and stay with your group.

Destroying enemy mechs is usually about destroying the engine, just like in Table Top, which is usually accomplished by destroying the Center Torso (or CT). Sometimes it's easier to destroy both legs, like with those fast/light mechs you complained about.
Shooting at the cockpit is a bit tough since it's actually a smaller target than it seems and you say you're having a LOT of trouble aiming...

People have probably mentioned this, but you should stay with the group and not leave cover first, as you can get shot easily. Also, learn to use the mechlab and make sure your torso has as much armor as you can give it, you may be exaggerating how quickly you are dying, if not then you might be missing armor.

If you're not used to live-action games it's unfair to criticize this game as too hard, you're just not used to reacting quickly to stimuli.

I'm going to give it one more shot... as ZRaven said... you are trying my patience and I have less of it than he does.

1 ) Dying "instantly" is what happens to everyone who plays this game if they do something foolish like charging toward the red dots on the map at high speed. Learn the maps, learn to use cover, learn to wait for your team.

2 ) Aiming is stupid... mmmm ok... I'm guessing you need to turn down your mouse sensitivity. You can do that in Options in the lower left corner under "Menu". Try it at 0.1 to 0.3.

3 ) Use the Testing Grounds... icon to the left of Launch... to learn how to move and shoot.

4 ) There is no way to quickly farm. None. Not at least in the sense that you are talking about. You do get a bonus during your first 25 matches at the end of which you'll have 8,000,000 CBills.

5 ) Light mechs are not considered a great place to start for beginners since they require lots of CBills to make highly usable.

6 ) Within 35 minutes you went and bought a Catapult fitted it out and decided it was useless. SLOW DOWN! I didn't even suggest it as a starting mech! I said it was usable! Not a glowing recommendation!

K, I went to fast and now I feel bad. I still can't aim very well. Leading targets and stuff, I'm not sure what that even is. What do I can't hit anyone. I turned my sensitivity down but I still can't hit anything. I can't hit anyone even if they're standing perfectly still.

Wait, the people I see when I first start a match, are those my team or enemies, because I've been shooting them. They're enemies right? One of them shoots at me normally and I fight back.

By the way - I hope you are familiar with the basic movements of a mech: legs and torso got independent steerings, just like a tank with it's turret and chassis. Aiming is an interaction between moving legs and torso. That's why you need to practice movement and aiming at testing grounds.

And just like in tank-building and construction, building a capable Mech-variant is always a compromise between armor, firepower and mobility/speed. You have to find out your preferences.

*facepalm* those are the Friendlies!

USE TESTING GROUNDS! Play with your mouse speed. Learn to shoot the unmoving targets in Testing Grounds! Only then should you play some matches.

There's your problem. You start the match with your team (blue or green triangles over their heads). The enemy will have red triangles over their heads.

Incidentally, I'd say the #1 survival tip when starting out is to stick with your team and shoot what they shoot.

For aiming (I think you brought this up earlier) you have a small circular reticle and a large cross reticle. The circle is your arm weapons, and the cross is your torso weapons. Since you're in a K2, your Gauss rifles use the cross to aim.

Holy cr*p, NO! You start with your team and they shoot back of course when you shoot them, because they get angry about obviously intentional friendly fire!

If you aim a friendly Mech, you will discover a blue-coloured line on top of him with his name and type of Mech. Look at your mini-map in the middle of the bottom of your cockpit. You can see your own position in the center of the map. Enemy positions are merked by red dots. Press "R" (by default) to lock on a sighted enemy Mech which direction you can see by a red dot on the direction-scale in the middle of the top of your cockpit.
