There's your problem. You start the match with your team (blue or green triangles over their heads). The enemy will have red triangles over their heads.

Incidentally, I'd say the #1 survival tip when starting out is to stick with your team and shoot what they shoot.

For aiming (I think you brought this up earlier) you have a small circular reticle and a large cross reticle. The circle is your arm weapons, and the cross is your torso weapons. Since you're in a K2, your Gauss rifles use the cross to aim.

Wait, everything is color coated? Ahaha oh wow, well I'm not sure what to do. I have monochromacy, so unlss there is a mod to change the arrows to black for friendlies and bright white for enemies I guess I won't know who is who.

You do spawn with your allies though, right? Well after they all leave I won't know who is who.

Start with this whole line of vids. http://youtu.be/mmtt6XiC3rA . These are somevwhat dated but most still apply. And yes if it has a blue or teal tri angle above they are friends. Red shoot at blues no shoot at. AIM for center mass as well cockpit hits on some mechs are hard to get lights aim for legs. Check out hit box locationthtead that will show u what i mean in cockpit hits.

You press "R" to target an enemy mech within about 750 meters (unless it's using ECM...) and when you that a square box surrounds your target, so that's a good way to realize it's an enemy instead of a friendly, you can't target friendlies. Also, friendly won't shoot you. Wait, how did you die before you could do "anything" if all you shoot at is the people you drop with? Either you did "something" and got killed properly for it, or we're all fools for trying to help you.

*facepalm* those are the Friendlies!

USE TESTING GROUNDS! Play with your mouse speed. Learn to shoot the unmoving targets in Testing Grounds! Only then should you play some matches.

Where is the testing grounds? How do I use it?

No, I'm simply that bad. No really, I know it seems impossible...

Ooooh, that's a good idea; shutting down and waiting at the end of a match. Thank you for reposting that thread, I forgot you could shutdown and no

Testing grounds you enter by clicking the little Mech-button leftwards the launch-button. Click it, select "Testing Grounds", then select a map for practice.

No damnit, I want to be able to play this game! I forgot everything the first time I played and now I have to figure out anything I had. Also I didn't know how to look at old threads.

Hmm read all the way through this most enlightening thread.

My heart says to help as best I can but my head is just won't stop saying "Do not feed the trolls"

OK one tidbit of advice on the off chance your not a Troll: If your coming from TT then for goodness sake DO NOT STOP TO LINE UP YOUR SHOTS!

No not even once. The only exception to this rule is if you have utterly flanked/got behind all opponents you can see and want to try for a specific target shot with everything you got.

Testing grounds was mentioned in your first post, and I'll explain it for you again here. Near the button you press to "Launch" into a game there is a gear-shaped button to the left. Press it and you should havea drop-down menu where you can select "Testing Ground" When you do that you should be prompted asking you if you are sure you want to do testing ground, go ahead and agree that you do indeed wish to do this. Then you will be put into a match with no players, 8 dummy mechs for you to shoot, and freedom to learn how to move and hit stationary targets. Godspeed.

If I try to shoot on the move my shots just flop all around and my already abysmal targeting goes even more down the drain.

So how does shooting mechs standing still make be better at hitting mechs that are moving around in real matches? I'm asking because if I do this training ground I will get good at shooting mechs standing still and anytime they move I will be out of luck.

No I'm not a troll please stop it, I forget stuff pretty easily when it comes to video games and I forgot about my threads in March, I barely remember playing this game back then. Please come on guys you're hurting my feelings...

Obviously you got to learn aiming and shooting at standing targets first, then learn to aim and shoot standing targets while moving yourself.

OP is troll... end of story.

Listed self as Girl in Profile but complains of being color blind which is a sex linked trait expressed only in males. Complains of very rare Total Color Blindness.

https://en.wikipedia...ki/Monochromacy

Is told where Testing Grounds button is located by me then asks where the button is located.

This post from the old thread is pretty neat...
http://mwomercs.com/...ost__p__2116663
Basically, one guy saying hey I invited you to join but you didn't. You said you applied to our group on our website but you didn't.

At one point even says...

This isn't a joke I really am this stupid.

Says plays Hawken which if had Monochromacy would cause same problem.

ETC

STUPID TROLL IS STUPID!

I'm done here.

Suggestive, you wrote: "... You win, you've driven me away and I shalt return."

What do we win?

Don't be angry with me, but you have to learn some patience and got to practice a lot to be successful in MWO. It's a pity you don't want to.

But consider: you earned patient and wilful hands to help you in this forum within minutes. We all took us time we obviously wasted...

Bye

Well if anyone else feeling hopeless stumbles through here, testing grounds can teach you to hit a target while moving if you practice it, and just learning to keep your crosshairs on a target as YOU move past it will teach you what you need to know to hit a moving target. Second, colorblindness is not only expressed in males, but otherwise this OP has put a lot of effort into shooting down ideas in these posts, that if translated into reading the simple instructions on what buttons to press in game, would have yielded a lot of fun playing this cool game.

I agree. But with this experience in mind (it was my first attempt to help a newbie) I will think twice next time to do so. I feel like he just wasted my time and good will.
