Hi all,

So with this patch, it's clear it's time to move into Phase 2 of #saveMWO.

Unit leads, look for a PM late tonight or tomorrow. It's time to convert your signatures into real action.

So is phase 2 foot stomping or breath holding? :)
Previously it was remarked by the movement that there really was no planned next step. So this should be good.

I just bought 3 Overlords and two Sarahs, I hope that helps.

Why 3 Overlords? Just curious really.

I'm seeing people stating that they won't patch. No idea how widespread that is, but if it's systemic then it'll affect bandwidth costs and server populations in interesting ways. Might make people take notice, might not. Who knows? Also I have no idea what Stalkerr has in mind, but I'm sure it'll be diplomatic as heck.

So which do you think is more diplomatic.. foot stomping or breath holding? I think breath holding it's quieter and less intrusive. A lot of stomping feet can be annoying. :)
I thought people already stopped playing, or is that something you say to sound tough? It will be interesting indeed. We'll get to see if missing the .5% will have an impact. That is if they actually stick to not installing and not playing. Game communities tend to talk tough but they just play on their other accounts so actual server population doesn't change much. At least that's been my experience. Maybe this time it will be different, but I won't hold my breath. B)
In reality did folks honestly expect if this movement is to have any effect for it to happen in 4 days? Especially when they clearly had this patch in the works for a while. That's why some of the expectations here are just plain silly. This is nothing new and not some huge game changer just because you have a few signatures on a letter that just repeats what's been said for months.
Even if PGI takes notice and wants to do something you think they were going to pull this patch or something crazy like that? That's why stuff like this on forums always entertains me. Game development is a marathon not a sprint and there is huge inertia built up. Even if they wanted to change something it wasn't going to happen in 4 days.
That's why the shift in tone is so sad and yet funny in a schadenfreude way. People get all worked up in an echo chamber of like minded folks and then get shocked when the rest of the world goes on with no change.
If this is some genuine movement, you need patience and can't be quitters in 4 days with no results. Anyways I am legitimately interested in what comes next.

You have a point about the expectations alright, I'll give you that. It's really a ways down the road that we'll see any positives come from this, or in a community outreach post from the devs (yeah right....) and not in a patch that was probably already ready at the time we sent this in.

i think u under estimate company's and consumers. i work in retail, if this was my company and they heard 1 person had a problem and emailed them. we would get a nasty letter to my dept saying y did we not take care of them. that person in turn would get a free product and some gift cards to our store. now that is just to keep 1 person business from going to another store and shopping there. idk what IGP and PGI think they are doing, this is very poor customer service. if over 600 ppl think they are doing wrong. thats lose of money, and that is just ppl who visit the forum and see this post.

So then why has nothing happened? Why hasn't someone from PGI done anything to even acknowledge this, unless you count the lame "forwarded" to higher ups jive. This isn't the first time groups have tried this approach and got the same non response. I leave that to you.
I guess it's easy to dismiss people who don't share your ideas or that you know more about something than. That's exactly how PGI treats "trolls", i.e. people with complaints and it seems to work for them. So continue to hang out in the echo chamber and then complain that PGI does the exact same thing.
I'm genuinely interested in hearing what Stage 2 will be, since I was told there was no plan past hoping PGI would consult with you to "save" the game.

For me Notch, the event gives me an opportunity to see if PGI's going to turn over a new leaf or not. There will still be people holding out hope through October, but it seems pretty clear for me that I'm going to be watching out for another patch cycle while heat scale drives the game into the ground.
I'm taking it as evidence that they're not going to budge on their position even though there's a sea of competing games out there to keep people occupied.

Kids. Its what they wanted for their birthdays. They love the heck out of this thing...

They're oblivious to most of higher echelon play and its nuances, of course.

That;'s the game I'm waiting for, the one these kids grow up to love, 2-3 years from now. I throw money I don't have at it because this is the only Mechwarrior there is. I'm glad their are "so many other games on the market" for y'all but this is my main sport. I'll play others... but this is the magic for us.

You're being pretty optimistic to think that there's going to be any sort of official developer response.

Even acknowledging it in any meaningful capacity would require them to concede that there is a non-negligible amount of people who aren't just trolls and aren't just making noise and have real, well-thought out, credible problems with the game. This would allow, in turn, for the possibility that the Grand Designs of the developers might be in some way suspect, and it's pretty obvious at this point that recognizing this is something that's not going to happen.

Why dont we get Garth and Devs host all of these players like Word of Lowtax did? I mean he is community manager after all and he is not alone there are some other community managers in PGI.

Hi all,

Those of you who asked to be a part of planning next steps should have PMs with some suggested next steps. Included is access to Mecha Lingua (our next event is next Tuesday! We're going to try to stream the audio from Skype, so fingers crossed that it'll work!). I've kept details out of this thread in respect to the moderators, because their job is hard enough as it is :) If you're interested in the details and didn't get a PM, send me one and I'll fill you in.

I'll be honest, we're taking this one step at a time. There's no long-term grand master plan at stake here... we're just a group of concerned people who want to see a change in the game, and through discussions and protest actions, we intend to make our voice heard.

So that's a no then.

Right now they are gambling that their intended game will net more people than what they lose. They are gambling that 3pv will pull in more bunny hopping FPS people than the simulator people who check out. None of us want the game to fail, but quite a few people wish they would have charted a different course.

Agreed, 3pv does seem like a desperate move to hopefully make some money.
