I have a Centurion 9A build that I love, and modeled this after it.

Thoughts?

The Awesome 8R is a better brawler in my opinion.

Cab, don't brawl with a Stalker. You will be outmaneuvered in seconds by any decent pilot in anything but an Atlas.

As Ricey said, the 8R is the better brawler in the Awesome class chassis.

I have an 8R, and am using it as a LRM boat. If I understand the mech skills correctly, buying another 8R will not help me work towards unlocking all of the Elite efficiencies.

Awesome is not a brawling chassis. It's just too large and awkward. Only available brawler used to be 8R with quad-SRM6, but after ghost heat being introduced brawling with it became extremely hectic.

If you insist, I suggest do something that can maximize hardpoint sync.

The V as a brawler, hm?

Always saw this one as a support mech versus the others.

i got 3 brawler awesome

the 8r is tremendous, i can do 7 kills or 1000+dmg with it in a match on a good day, if you can manage to run out of srm to shoot.

the 8t is SOLID. weaker in sheer firepower. but if you can make the large pulses work, you can have a hell of a round. it's not a bad short range attacker if you have at least 1 team mate with u, and it can survive brawls with most mechs, can kill a fresh assault like a stalker or atlas as well.

the 8v......... i was never convinced by it, but i never wanted to put large lasers on it, or lrm.

here is my loadout, check it out:

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...65d39b3aa7db92d

or ith endo and std: (but 1% hotter)
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...9c6dcd39d397e2f

it's like an alpha jager or something, very good up close but that's it.

(EDIT: see updated build below)

ok guys, realizing that i wasn't happy with my build i tried others and really -the 8v is a tough mech to set up
i was never happy with this one mech as i was with the others but i think i have reached a very fair build now in my mind with the ideas i got from you guys

after trying out your loadouts and my own, tweaking and testing - and then confirming that a mix of laser and ppc is too awkward to shoot realiably, i believe this is the winner guys, if you remove the head laser and put another heatsink you can have the heat efficiency you wanted, but this way even if i lose torsos i can zombie it until the bitter end, sometimes it really makes the difference late in the game

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...9f4a10e68f719f4
(edit woops, wrong ver. this one has 2 srm4)

it uses LPL, ppc wasn't mixing very well with ERLL and the build kinda needs one of em IMO.
it doesn't use any standard LL because like i said too long beam duration for the range of engagement in the aws. you need to hill hump to your bellybutton so the guns will actually point at the enemy, making this worse by putting Large lasers on this seems unwise

(edit 2: removed most armor and all sinks from dead arm, for an extra heatsink - WOW this really makes a difference here, the build is looking BEASTLY now except for the low armor on dead shield arm and reduced leg armor, but the build is kicking butt now)

just did a few rounds with my buddy opus, and it is looking like this is indeed quite good, way better than the builds i had been trying, it crossed a threshold once i took the armor off the other arm, and it doesn't really matter in combat because it's not like you have an XL engine to protect. even if you lose the left or right torso and arm sections completely, it doesn't matter, the arsenal is still decent

http://i60.photobuck...23.png~original
i'm gettin lots of assists and good damage on these matches i played - whats funny is some light mechs go out of their way to shoot the useless arm as they see it flashy red, when in fact it's a complete waste of their time, i had to lol when that happened in that tourmaline match

the ranges on this build are up to 1000m, can shoot 3 laser at mid range or 4. and in theory can shoot all weaps at brawling range.

The 8V ended up being one of my favorite Awesomes back when SRMs were mean. I ran a STD300, 3 LL, 3 SRM6 build. Wasn't a "brawler" in the sense that my 4 ASRM6 8R was, but it ended up being a decent mid/short range support mech. It has the hard point layout I wish the Pretty Baby had.

Edit:
Mazzy your builds are too freakin hot, LOL!

based on what? it's obviously not impeding me from shooting em
maybe you're firing all the weapons at the same time? or are you saying the number thingy on smurfy is too low? that number is misleading, i suggest you don't take it to heart

if you try the build even on testing grounds it can put a lot of firepower on the move before ever shutting down, but when the bar is full you have to sorta rely on the srm only or cycle the pulses

the ERLL will spike the heat bar so it's good to keep that in mind to only use it at the long range of the spectrum

I used to roll the 8R 4 SRM 6 brawler already posted. The trouble is that brawling without ballistics just knackers your heat sinks thanks to ghost heat. If you can put up with the extra heat, the AWS series probably isn't as terrible as it used to be now that its hitboxes have been adjusted. The D-DC is still the absolute king for close range mash ups imo.

SRM 4s are less powerful in one burst but if you chain them they still do good damage and less heat.

The PPCs allow you to operate at long range as well, in case you get a large, open stage.

Large Pulse Lasers deal devastating damage very quickly in a small area, as Large Lasers spread the damage more.

Fire responsibly and you have a good brawler.
