Tetatae are a primitive species of barely intelligent, if flight-less birds with a lifespan of about 200 years.
Initially they all lived on the plains, but for some reason they split into two with one group living in the forests/jungles.
The group living in the forests/jungles grew enough brains to finally be able to build primitive huts.

Fast-forward to 2510 when a ship leaving Salford suffered a misjump and ended up in an unknown area of space, their KF-drive damage, their only option was to use the dropships to land on the planet, where they built three settlements in the plains and enslaved the Tetatae.

Fast forward again to 3056 when a ship with DEST aboard suffered the same type of misjump leaving Salford and ended up near that planet as well, again with the KF-drive damage and no other option than landing on the planet. And go read Far Country if you want to know more.

It's a group of gamers who've been around a long time and have gained fame by pretty much winning the game of Eve online, where they're known as GoonSquad. Their play style is to learn everything about the game and all of the rules. They're not really cheaters, just incredibly skilled and ruthless players, who have developed extremely good coordination. More like utter bast**d lawyers.

Eve is a universe explicitly without rules, and con games, thieving and assassination are all things to brag about. When you think about it, GoonSquad is lying, raiding, robbing and conning fellow players. MechWarrior players are killing each other, so you really can't get after them too hard.

In MechWarrior Online, they're calling themselves "The Word of Lotax" as a play on "The Word of Blake". Unfortunately, their play style is simultaneously effective and soul corrupting. The symptoms are huge egos and utter contempt for 'lesser' peoples, which is everyone else. Since the entire "Bird-Alien Tetatae" thing irritates most MechWarrior fans, it's been picked up as a trolling theme.

In Eve Online, the group started as an espionage outfit, and has spent several years getting good at collecting information on other gamer groups. There are a several members of the group with MWO troll-support accounts which appear as calm, reasoning anti-Word of Lotax members, who post simply as a foil to the trolls. They also quote the less than well thought out posts of non WoL's to prevent later editing.

They looked at the MWO forums, and decided that Liao was the most promising group to take over, which is fortunate, because if there's any faction to hate, it's them. That doesn't mean they'll stay Liao. They communicate very well, and they could all become Davion, Steiner or anyone else overnight. I'd guess most of them have multiple accounts already, and may have picked out another faction to be sleepers of. I think the Bronys are the only ones they'd have trouble hiding in.

They're trash talking you because your reactions amuse them. They don't see you as an irritation, or someone to fight. They see you as a helpless kitten they can make cry with a cigarette lighter. Don't worry though. They hold everybody in contempt.

One big problem you do have, though, is that a many of them have been playing MechWarrior longer than you've been alive. If you want a good comparison... Have you played poker with a 10 year old? You'd take them to the cleaners, because you have more experience being a cheat and a liar than the 10 year old does.

There is a very true saying "Old age and treachery will beat youth and skill every time". These guys have learned how to learn new games, and learned how to cooperate. Kind of like sword fighting, 2 medium skilled guys working well together can beat one extremely good guy, just with teamwork. You may expect the WoL guys to show the rest of us how to coordinate, and at first, they're going to be fairly unbeatable in groups. Expect to lose and learn. A lot. I expect it'll be similar to how WWII started, with the German army cleaning up everywhere. Unfortunately, GoonSquad has proven they know how to read, so don't expect the same mistakes.

A great many of them already are playing the Beta, and are sharing information on locked forums. Oldest rule of winning free drawings: 100 accounts means 100 times the chances of winning. And you can give away any extra accounts that win to buddies.
