I have to say it was a nice choice......Steelo

I have a question for the others.....since they don't want to drop the issue about the board.
I have looked up stats on both mine and the ASRock. They are pretty much the same, but I did notice something odd.
They have it posted to do Quad Crossfire/SLI when it only has 3 PCIe slot. Unless they are counting the x1 slot, which in many gaming communities is a no go, since it can't keep up with x16/8/4. why list it this way? Is it a miss print on Newegg or ASRock, or does it turely have this feature?

Dual GPU cards like the Radeon HD 6990 and the Nvidia Geforce GTX 690 allow for quad Xfire / SLI.

Indeed, few motherboards have four PCIE slots of 4x or higher, let alone 8x or higher, so quad xfire/SLI often refers to dual-GPU cards.

Of course, if one is even consideration such an option, then clearly there's spare cash there to buy a much higher end motherboard one way or the other.

I get the idea, but I cant say that that is true quad SLI/Crossfire. That is still only two cards......even if it has dual GPUs. You're still only have one bridge, right? So how is that Quad, other than having dual GPUs? Now I am building a custom case from aluminum and friberglass. I was planing to go with 4 video cards, several SSD drives and the best CPU/Motherboard combination I can find, when the time comes. I'm looking to make the fastest, most interactive pc, in the private sector. Although I have been building systems since the begining of 2000, I still have a few things that I don't totally understand. In fact, this is the second or third pc, I''l be doing Crossfire/SLI on (still working on my honies pc). I guess, I wanna know if its possible to Crossfire/SLI 4 Dual GPU cards.

I put together this PC build based on advice from both the Ars Technica System Build Guide and the MMO-Champion Build of the Month.

Came out to just over USD$1200, and that includes everything.
Ended up building three of them (one for me, one for my wife, and one for my best mate), and they all perform fantastically well.
Everything I've thrown at them has been playable at native resolution (1920x1080) with all the details turned up.

I wouldn't touch Radeon and their drivers with a 10 foot pole, they're god awful.

I used to be all about nVidia. My last several machines have had nVidia graphics.
But this time around, at the price point I was looking at, none of the nVidia offers came close to the Radeon 6870.
I've been running it for several months, played a lot of different games, and it's been a spectacular card thus far.

I might regret my purchase someday, but for the time being, it's no better or worse than the nVidia cards I've owned over the years.

It is... on AM3+ http://www.newegg.co...N82E16813128508 (if you are watercooling and hence using single slot cards) and LGA2011 http://www.newegg.co...N82E16813130626 (also LGA 1366, but that's an old socket of course)
