streaks still work great vs light mechs.

not true. with current ssrm dmg values an ssrm 6 would do 10 damage each, 6 SRM 6 would give you 54 damage, even with current ssrm design that is a lot of damage to 1 node vs even an assault mech.

It will be for sure years b4 Clan-SSRM6 arrive if ever and if they arrive they be outclassed by any other Clan Weapon and we will argue about the Duckhunt a Star of Clanmmechs will do when facing a Company of IS Mechs.

Don't rely on autolock streaks. Use your own skill, pick up some hard hitting SRMs and wreck it.

Lights just became more dangerous with the SRM buff.

When were they buffed? they've been rendered almost useless, thanks to random hit placement. If they are the only weapons you have left, and you are facing off against someone with a wide open CT, you might as well shut down and die, because you will never hit that CT. The only way you will kill that mech is if it's carrying an XL engine.

Streaks are auto-lock weapons, like it or not, learn to spread your damage.

Streaks will hit the enemy's CT if you're right next to them.. but that's about it.

The damage streaks do isn't relevant if its spread all over the place. If you had 2 weapons that have the exact same heat, weight, and crit space usage, refire etc...but one did 70 damage more or less divided by 7 hit locations and the other one did 35 damage all to a single point, in this game you would choose the latter if you like not losing. Of course drumfire SRMs also spread, but they don't do so to the degree of streaks do by a longshot. Even so, while I think the buffed dumbfire SRMs are ok, the (focused) damage dealing edge they offer inside their 270 max range compared to other longer ranged weapons that are still good in close is small enough that I'd argue that even dumbfire SRMs are probably not the best weapon to drop with. They're no longer total garbage, but they aren't quite good either.

Between the nerf to their splash damage, and the new targeting mechanics, streak SRMs are not even worth using anymore.

as for boating of ppc's up their heat generated and make them take more crit slots but I am disgressing streaks to need to have the larger launchers introduced. and maybe a small damage buff.

Right or wrong. Streaks are a waste of tonnage. And PGI is officially in my book horrible at balancing this game (which is truely sad).

They could use a slight buff in terms of targeting percentage or damage, but they're just streak 2s. Buff them too much and streak 6s will be broken when they appear.

Streak damage just needs to be increased. Its still 1.5 and needs to be at least 2.0

unfortunately, pgi will probably reinvent the wheel instead of doing any of the above. they should be going up to 2.0 tomorrow but pgi doesn't react to anything unless a QQ tsunami hits their island. meanwhile, on the mainland, we suffer.

So they're in the club of pretty much every Mechwarrior multiplayer balance developer ever.

Streaks are fine. They auto-hit and deliver guaranteed damage. If you want to aim theres plenty of weapons that provide that "feature".

While streaks were perhaps in need of a small nerf, there should be laws in place to protect game assets from the abuses that the devs inflicted upon streaks in the last patch.

i think the same mechanin should be implemented to lrm's to be honest

i love it when i decide to use weapons that require aim like SRMs and hit a mech but it doesn't register. in fact, tthat makes me want to buy a phoenix package.

Hmm. My weapons that almost always hit, are a a light weight investment, and take no skill to use just are doing enough...How can PGi hold my hand more?

Last nite playing on Alpine in Conquest mode I thought we were in for a good win, we had 3 lights capping away together and had already knocked out one of their lights...

It wasnt til I got knocked out by a Jager in my Commando (and saw all our caps go from blue to red) that in Spectate mode I quickly went through our team to see what was up. I had to cycle through our mechs twice cuz I couldnt believe it we had 1, 2 no 3 streakcats on our team!

I havent seen a streakcat in ages let alone 3 of them! By this time all the caps are red and we are losing. The 3 streakcats were together and focus firing enemy mechs. Now I've never run a streakcat myself but I have seen enough of them ingame to know roughly how long it takes to take out a mech at close range.

I would say it took the same amount of time as before the streak nerf. As in: It takes 3 streakcats the same amount of time it used to take 1 streakcat to destroy an enemy mech at close range.

Just use normal srms if you want to hit a specific location.Imo streaks sole purpose is reliable damage in fast light fights ..... and in those they still work.

In that case all weapons should have a randomized cone of fire, including MGs and Flamers!

Yay!

"Balance!"

Everyone can run around in their invincible Battlemechs- and don't worry, your crying got knockdown taken away too, so you don't even have to worry about that!

Enjoy!

The law doesn't protect cheaters. Streaks are an auto-lock cheat in a game that's supposed to be decided by aiming and maneuvering skill.
