Missile boating has issues anyway. SRM boating has a very short range and one of the slowest firing projectiles. LRM boating has locking issues as well as close range issues. Still, with the current rules, you're encourage to not simply boat them even more, and honestly, very few mechs can (Not many have 4+ missile slots for the SRM boat issue, nor good enough tubes for LRM boating to be effective beyond a third launcher).
As for the PPC/Gauss issue, I worry that any solution to that will hurt the weapons individually. PPCs themselves are ok, the Gauss is ok, but the alpha combo of those is devastating. From listening to what PGI has said, it's a convergance issue as much as anything else, so there may not be an easy answer that doesn't simply make the set of weapons unusable in generall. I don't think anyone is saying "No one should be able to use PPC/Gauss", but that it shouldn't be the general answer to "what should I equip".
That said, I think the meta is too focused on the Alpha, and missing out on some pretty useful gear.

And THANK YOU for fixing the "wall pebbles" on Canyons. I had more than a few games where I'd be running away from something and slam to a complete halt by something I should have easily been able to step over.
Great job, guys: looking forward to this game going gold.

Not sure why they haven't done that already though. The took 1 heat away back in Feb, which kind of started the whole PPC Meta...

I fully understand that, but we're in beta. I would imagine that players are a really good source of test data, especially for number tweaking (SRM damage, PPC heat). I think that if that stuff got pushed out to us more often, it would free internal test teams to do testing on bigger things like mechanics changes.

Just gonna quote this as it pretty much says everything I was going to post. What I find hilarious is that now a dedicated brawler, lets say a stalker that runs 6 srm4 and a couple lasers for backup, will now be incapable of firing all it's missiles without invoking the heat gods. My previously optimally build lrm20 + 3xlrm10 highlander will now invoke the heat of 4 lrm 20s when fired. Are you really this ******** ?
How about using more other weapons?
How about chainfire your Missiles?
Win/win.
You don't need to fire all SRMs /LRMs /LLaser /PPCs together.
You can still do it, but you will have to decide if you want to risk the heat.
That is the thing. No hard restriction on customization, just better options than "take all the best weapons x4".

SRM6 max alpha limit is 3, SRM4 max alpha limit is 4. If I have 3x SRM4 and 1x SRM6 and alpha, do I incur the heat penalty or not?
They share the max alpha limit now, so does it count as me firing 4x SRM4 and no heat penalty or does it count as me firing 4x SRM6 and incurring the wrath of the heat gods?
Drop in testing ground and try it find out. Easy as that.

Real question here is.... who builds 3 x SRM4 and 1 x SRM6 builds? really? Shoot 4 x srm4 sync or 4 x SRM6 and alternate fire 2 x 2. 3 and 1 is such a bad build since they have different cooldown timers anyways you will end up losing DPS trying to fire all 4 together by either waiting for the SRM6 or firing the 3 SRM4's and not firing the SRM6 on cooldown The fix isn't understanding the heat issues the fix is building a mech properly.
If you are using a catapult, jager or any 2+2 symmetrical torso fired missile variant you should be firing each chest/arm pod separately anwyways for the tightest grouping and most effective aim. Sync firing from 2 extremely separated hard points will create a X pattern fire which means you'll only get a tight grouping on perfect aim where as firing them separately will give you a /\ pattern which is much more forgiving and better heat management. Just remember to give .5 second between firing each pod to ensure you don't get the ghost heat penalty.

Agreed. You don't need to fire all your missiles together. You have to give the enemies AMS a chance. Maybe if you're a sniper you should aim at an arm sometimes instead of a torso to give them a chance, maybe miss a few time completely.

But nerfing LL/ ERLL/ LPL to death? Are they so overpowered and overused?
You should actually ENCOURAGE people to use these weapons imho.
