Yet, the ridicilously overpowered poptarting 2 PPC/ERPPC + Gauss -mechs have not been fixed in any way, thanks to the moronic design of heat scaling. People can still alpha your face with 35 damage for absolutely zero penalty...

This will be very interesting as I've always liked the shorter beams, especially against light.
But yeah, don't alpha them. Chainfire or fire 2 then the last or another 2

What?
Lasers do not equal pinpoint alphas. Lasers were fine without heat scaling.
I don't boat lasers myself, but a LL + LPL -hybrid seems like a rather balanced and interesting idea. You couldn't even boat more than 2 of each anyway, and their alpha is far from being a pinpoint smash in the face. Now that idea is useless, though.
And don't give me that crap about their beam duration being shortened, that's not going to fix the ridicilous heat they produce. They produce 0,5 more heat than a damn PPC, and with shorter beam (hence shorter recycle), you won't even be able to use 2 of them effectively.

Who was complaining about 3 LL boats? Is it the same guy who was compaining about 3 LPL boats? because that dude is mentally challenged.
Cap the whole thing at 4, remove the link, or better yet just do away with the dumb heat penalties for weapons people never complained about anyways.

I'm fine with Er and regular LL being combined, but the LPL is simply idiotic. Also, the limit should be four and not two. I've seen good pilots do well with 4 LL builds, but I've seen mediocre ones flame out with them as well. No one has ever complained that a 4 LL Cat K2 or 'phract 1x was overpowered, but they nerfed the **** out of them anyway.

Now what they also need to do is completely remove that category from heat penalties as YOU CAN'T ALPHA WITH LAZORS.
alpha is the reason penalties were introduced (not boating) so anything that isnt alpha strike capable (lasers, machine guns, probably ac2's) should be exempt, theres nothing wrong with 60 points of large laser fire being spread all over the show. Its when that 60 points can be reliably placed into a specific location that its a problem.
Shorter beam duration means nothing when you can suddenly only use 1/3 of the amount of lasers, effectively dealing LESS damage to a specific section. LPL's were heavily nerfed overall with the recent duration reduction + heat penalty.
You're still better off to use 2 ER PPCS (or 4) than LPL's just to get the precision hits.
