Why would 18 missiles from 3xSRM6 be the same as 8 missiles from 4xSRM2?

Same for LRM. It should not be the launcher but total missiles.

Dumb PGI at it again.

Normal math: Set maximum missiles for heat penalty then apply the penalty when you fire more than that max.

PGI math = fail

I am not sure I understand..but SRM2 are not linked to any heat penalty group yet..

however, i think applying heat penalty based on total missiles launched is better solution than some arbitrary launcher count..

table says SRM2 max is 4
SRM4 max is 4
SRM6 max is 3

Don't you know how much damage that is? It's more than three whole medium lasers, and worse, it's spread over multiple components! This SRM8/LBX20 Jagermech cheese needs to be reined in.

This patch was one of the most disappointing patch, balance wise.

Big things in July...right...

Can't ******* wait until September 3rd comes.

Not only that but this penalty shows these devs don't even play this game. AT ALL.

Linking the missiles to an alpha max is absolute idiocy. Particularly for LRMs.

These weapons (LRM) have a 10+ second warning to the target, they TAKE 10 seconds to reach target, they can be shot down by AMS AND they require the player to purchase upgrades and modules to make its full LRM load as effective as a single PPC.

...and they put a gdamn heat penalty limit on it?

Just... fail. Bad, bad fail.

Might've been a mistake there on his loadout, hes usually in a wang when I see him and I've seen him run a few different kinds (2x UAC5, gauss etc) maybe meant to swap the lasers and forgot

Just wait until they do the 8-mans... they'll confirm what some of us already know.. that building mechs is not their forte - see Heavy mech design challenge from months ago. Speaking of which.. they have yet to put a new one up... as one AtD explained that this is supposed to be done seasonally or every 3-4 months. We're way past that day...

All weapons need to be linked, max linked set by damage and lowest limit used for where the penalty starts.

Thomas Dziegielewski always runs a gauss wang. But you have to drop with a low elo mech to meet him.

I'll remember that.

They have problem with finishing things. Start buffing MGs, give up. Start buffing LBX, give up. Start buffing flamers, give up. Start buffing pulse lasers, nerf them into the ground, give up for 2 months. Nerf streaks into the ground...?

I was wondering about that too. Smashing pugs gets boring very fast especially when they are in their coffins trial mechs. At least the champion mechs give them a fighting chance. IMO all the trials should be champions.

Makes sense. But maybe the idea behind that is actual server performance limitation.
