And, that was 31 July, then reiterated on 3 Aug. It is now 11 August.

Well... in all fairness we did get the second "only partially open up your computer to malware infection by disabling hardware assisted virtualization" option as a workaround... from another forum user.

over 2 weeks and counting. starting to wonder why i ever sent money to you guys. whough not a lot of money i still gave you some. this is pathetic. in eve online CCP Borked up the game and a massive boycott went into place where hundreds of thousands of players unsubscribed and forced the former CEO to resign. what ever happened to rolling back the software. clearly you dont care about your customer and fan base. get it fixed already. PGI is turning out to be a sad excuse for a development group.

I know exactly how you feel. Above poster: That isn't a solution to the problem, it's a work around that compromises your system.

I know, I was being dryly sarcastic.

Still no answer on this subject. The only thing that you have suggested is a work around that opens your customer's computers to viral attacks. How could a company even suggest that to their customers! In the mean time you keep doing these silly patches to other players to enhance their game but do absolutely nothing to help a large amount of your other customers get back into the game. Seems to me that everyone should drop what ever they are doing and fix this problem as a team so that all customers can get back in the game and keeping your customers updated on your progress. It is called customer support/service and your support is lacking. Why would anyone pay for something like this or have any confidence in your company if you do not fix major problems like this. Shame, shame, shame on you!

PS: I like your "We're Hiring" at the bottom of this page. Fitting.

Well I had the same problem with Spyhunter/Reghunter that the rest of you are having with Avast!....the never ending "please wait". The solution was also to uninstall but I didn't need to reboot.

I don't have an AMD processor or Avast and I have the same issue. It's not just those 2 that are affected. I run an Intel & use ESET NOD32 antivirus and I get the same "Please Wait". What's going on?

Just came back and patched the game up is it a avast issue as i can find something else instead to use or an AMD issue .or just a combination of both as i,ve a new rig setup arriving tommorrow with a intel chip and want to know if i just dont bother reinstalling avast and get something else anyhows .

Any feedback would be appreciated (might actually encrourage me to finally burn that founders time i still havent touched).

Using an amd chip at present the 8350 or what ever it is an avast replacing it with an intel chip the i5 3570 will this have the same problem as well.

Uh, didn't know this was an issue.

I've been running an fx8320 with Avast! for a year now and not seeing this issue. I have Windows 8 though so maybe that's the difference.

I managed to get mine running today. Even though I don't use Avast, I did the same thing for it. I uninstalled, restarted, reinstalled, restarted, then redid my settings. So far so good.

It's just the combo of some AMD chips and Avast, so you should be fine with the Intel chip.

It only affects some AMD chips when combined with Avast, so your lucky!

Please post your details

and Thermidor, your post makes no sense and should not have been posted (you can read, yes?). I wanted this to be for people who are having problems with AMD and Avast getting in the way of the game. I was not counting on people with a need to have people see their posts.

give or take 3 weeks and NO RESPONSE at all from our developers. if or when this issue is resolved founding members should be compensated for this MAJOR inconvenience that has received ZERO attention. we gave you money so you could operate on this project, and no progress is made. please remind us why we supported this production.

Just got word from an Avast customer support rep.

Unchecking "enable hardware-assisted virtualization" in Avast Antivirus products will NOT compromise my computer's security.

So, Uncheck that option in the troubleshooting section of "Settings", then restart your computer. You should be able to play the game. I have and I have had no issues yet.

Why PGI did not verify the option with Avast to begin with instead of waiting all this time for me to do it myself is beyond me. But, then again, I'm just one customer and my loss would be insignificant to the bottom line.

When we have more information (including info on when we'll have this resolved) we'll post it here.

I'll reiterate again...

- the 2 'workarounds' are not considered final solutions
- PGI and IGP remain concerned with this issue

You are not obliged to undertake these workarounds under any circumstances if you are not absolutely comfortable with the risks associated. You are of course welcome to find an alternative method of protecting your machine. Avast! is by no means the only viable solution out there (and yes, it is far from ideal, especially if you paid for avast.).

Additional tickets are welcomed, though they will not help in prioritizing this in any way. The issue is already one that we regard as a very high priority and we look forward to getting this resolved as quickly as we can. Anyone holding off playing with premium time ticking down should definitely get in contact for assistance.

This is not the answer some of you are looking for. Hopefully we'll more information early next week.

Thanks
Muggins

We don't have a fix readily available at this time. At the very least this will take a couple days, but most likely will persist into next week.

This remains a high priority item for us to resolve quickly, and without worsening the situation for everyone else not currently having problems.

@ Methathias - please contact support with details of your setup, dxdiag. Sounds like you have a different problem that we need to investigate in greater detail.

Thanks
Muggins

Do you have an update on this high priority?

Thanks for that Gremlich Johns, that's good to know! Your right PGI should have confirmed this with Avast ASAP, I don't like messing with my AV so I'd like to see this issue resolved proper by next patch.... but yeah, not holding my breath!

Edit: OK so doing this looks like it's ok unless you use the Sandbox, so if you open a program in Sandbox and that program is infected malwere can potentially escape, so un-checking this box is bad when using Sandbox - thought id just make that clear for people!
