Funny thing about it removing the "simulation" aspect is that nearly (if not) all actual commerical simulation games feature 3rd person cameras. Not that Mechwarrior has ever had simulator depth anyway, but still not a big stretch.

At least we're not taking about a pillar that's been in any Mechwarrior beyond the original though. Granted you could often force it off in server settings. Sort of hope that's the idea here at least.

Granted I would prefer Mechwarrior to evolve a bit but baby steps.

Separate for now. Apparently 1PV only is "Hardcore" mode now.

For now. Until they realize that splitting up the already pitifully small player base into two matchmaking lists is going to lead to no games found or running into the same people 4/5 matches.

The 3PV "feature" is already made and they will never take it out so their only option will be to merge everyone into 1+3PV to keep the illusion the game isn't bleeding players.

BTW, I went back and forth between 1PV and 3PV and the "massive field of vision increase" is FALSE. There is MINIMAL increase, if any. I took screenshots of it that I'll post later. (unless someone else beats me to it)

Jump sniping is made much easier with this mode. You can scan anything above a hill and see movement before you have to leave cover. However accuracy greatly diminishes as when in 3rd person your arms are locked and you seem to have a bit of a reticle shake when moving. You can even peak around corners as well as dodge incoming missiles far easier though. Defiantly easy mode.

Well I hope that 3pv brings in the massive amounts of players that they think it will, so they will not have to combine queues. Personally, I would rather sit at the "Searching" screen for 15 minutes than be forced to play against people using 3pv.

PGI, please, for the love of god, listen to me.

The default FOV for 1PV is god awful.

This is what's throwing off new players so much, it's absolutely absolutely terrible, and the worst part is they have NO way of knowing how to manually change it themselves at all without visiting the forum, and it's even harder now with the restructure.

You said it yourself, that the majority of the playerbase does not visit the forums.

NO ONE who is new to this game will use 1PV because the default FOV is downright INFERIOR in every single way to 3PV.

And as to the people giving feedback, remember, you're not playing in default FOV, your FOV may be fine to you but remember that new players are stuck with the incredibly horrible tiny default FOV, they're going to pick 3PV every single time because this game has no FOV slider despite having been 1 year in production.

If you're really so intent on including 3PV, AT LEAST ADD IN A FOV SLIDER FOR NEW PLAYERS SO THAT 1PV CAN BE A VIABLE ALTERNATIVE.

3PV is exactly as I speculated it might be. I see no issue with it at all. None. It gives you a situational and marginal advantage and definitely isn't ideal for most combat situations. Case closed and anxieties put to rest for me.

Oh. Oh it only gives you tactical advantages and massive FoV increase and lets you see around obstacles.

But its not THAT bad.

Yes.

Sure, you can now see the mech to the left of you, but you aren't able to see what's directly in front of you and don't have the situational awareness that the minimap gives you. It's a tradeoff at best.

Tried it in a few games and it definitely feels more like a disadvantage than an advantage.

Yeah, sure, there's a little bit of extra awareness offered by it but, in my opinion, it's not a huge deal.

FOV isn't a problem, you can't really peek around corners, you can see over the top of things but your drone can also be seen.
It's really not the end days as many people seem to think.

There are 3 mechs in that image you cannot see from cockpit view.

You guys are seriously smoking something ... Put down the pipe and take a look.

Does it give you a slight advantage? Yeah you can look over low hills.

However, did you notice that you can also see the little 3PV drone from a great distance? You are going to stand out like a sore thumb.

Personally, I wouldn't use 3PV. Maybe in a "Command" position, but in combat it SUCKS.

Also, no map... there goes the Seismic advantage, its a lot harder to smoothly aim as well
3pv is fun to watch but i rather play FPS mode
