edit: removed one too many Huge quotes, why give more credit when none is due already?

Is how I read yours.

Die and get out.

I'm genuinely curious. Are you in college? A junior maybe? Know just enough that you're not frosh but still sophomoric about the workings of the world? Do you live in a small bubble of perfect dynamics that's untouchable by things that change?

I'm amazed that you had the gumption to change the text of my post within the little quote tags, there. It seems like quite a leap of faith for you to do something so... different.

Your 10,000 MC is definitely worth about $1.31 because thou art the Least Interesting Man in the Fora™

All you need to do is press F4 to see things you could not normally see in 1PV. The camera rotates. Walk to a spot that has cover, F4, see over low hills and/or around corners, retract camera (instantly), and you are set. Trouble avoided. Or scouting done. Or snipe targets picked.

If it was this easy for me in two or three matches, imagine how easy it will be once players have hours of practice with it.

Thanks for responding. I can understand your viewpoint. Personally I just think the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. I could spot that blinking light from far away, so I don't know how often I'd use it. I'd think it'd be a freaking beacon on a night-time map.

They can see a tiny little red blip that could easily be missed as they only need to pop it out, scan over the cover, then go back into first person. Scouting is complete and they completely took the risk out of looking over cover. It is a flat out massive advantage. Who cares if you do catch that slight red blip.

All you know is a mech is behind cover, while he know how many mechs you have. What they are. What they are carrying. All of this without having to risk his armor.

Saying it is not advantageous is a flat out lie.

You can't really miss it, and it isn't little. Forest Colony looked like a colony of fireflies had moved in.

It's many times been the case that the most adaptable succeed the most, that living within a rigid, preconceived notion of how things "should be" and being unable or unwilling to adapt would just result in hardship for oneself. I never went in as a Founder thinking that PGI must do 'x', 'y', and 'z' because that is exactly what they stated they would or wouldn't do, I went in as a Founder because I really loved Battletech as a kid and wanted a less twitchy mech sim. I didn't care if there were a few minor things that would marginally affect a battle's outcome (coolant flush, P2W, whatever you perceive) because I knew I wouldn't be playing at the top echelon, I just wanted something fun. I didn't care if it was 1PV or 3PV, but I loved the 1PV "look" so I tossed a few coins PGI's way. Now that they've added a 3PV option over a year later in order to entice a larger player base at trying out their game, and therefore keep this game and the franchise floating longer, I don't have a problem with that, too.

My preconceived expectations are not the sole framework by which I judge their decisions, the hours of enjoyment I've garnered per dollar spent are. If 3PV ends up souring my experience, the game as a whole for me, and it just sucks...well, as an adult with a job and expendable income I'll move on to any of the dozens of other really, really good games out there to spend my money on. So far from the reports coming, it changes the game a little but isn't nuanced so strongly that it breaks the entire game in half for the average player.

And I'm fine with that.

TL;DR version : quitcherbitchin', grow up, vote with your dollars and not with your mouth, adapt or die or get out

The tree of evolution is full of dead ends that were atempts to be adaptive, in this case is it the playerbase who has to adapt to the game or should the game try to adapt to the playerbase? One path lives and evolves, the other withers and dies as it runs out of cash paying players.

There were way more players in the drops ok with it than there were people complaining.

Right there, ***** broken before it's even off the test servers.

For all they people saying it's ok because the map is gone or the aiming sucks, don't run around with it just abuse the new 3PV to see whats around corners and over buildings/hills.

Now your gonna break us up with ELO, Conquest and Assault, and 1PV and 3PV? queues are already small I play the same people often enough already. this is just a cluster **** of nonsense pgi.. Drop it..

It is not a matter of them knowing that I am there. There are other sensors that allow them to do that. If they cannot target me or shoot me, IDC if they know where I am at a specific time. I can move.

I'm genuinely curious: are the people who are firmly against this also firmly against the idea of a rear-view camera? Because, in essence, wouldn't that give you the same basic advantage (i.e. seeing things you can't normally see, allowing you to react where you otherwise wouldn't)?

I didn't test it with LRMs, but I'm curious if you can target and lock from the other side of a hill. Because your reticle is based on your viewport, I would find it hard to even target something in 3PV when you are on the other side of the hill.

I know keeping lock with SSRMs was a ***** in 3PV. I would expect LRMs wouldn't be a piece of cake.

You can't target them either. Plus they all have ppc's remember, they don't need to target you.

If even half the people on these forums leave over this then the forums will vastly improve, and no one will notice their loss in game.

The transition isn't instant if you haven't noticed. Which means they could probably make it way longer. I think something around 5 seconds to deploy/undeploy would be a good number. This won't stop someone on the team from being designated as "overwatch" so I do think eventually being able to destroy the drone is going to have to happen.

Sometimes it's a case of both. Having playing 1PV our entire MWO lives we have no visual lexicon, no adaptive cues to understand readily, immediately that blinky red thing over the hill = dude who hit F4. Conversely if PGI foresees that the current playerbase will not be able to provide enough revenue to keep the company solvent then they, too, have to adapt their lexicon in order to converse with a larger customer base. I'd much prefer to have an MWO game (with 'hardcore mode' to boot for those 1PV purists) than no MWO game at all.

Many paths branch and evolve, to what end and purpose remain to be seen, but thankfully it's almost never a pure black or white situation to resolve out of. Me, I'm willing to give PGI leniency because the hours of entertainment per dollar spent is one of the highest I've personally experienced, it's up there with WoW and Monster Hunter 2G on the PSP.

But I know where to aim if I decide to pop tart or charge them. More importantly I now know where NOT to go if I do not want to engage/be engaged.

No, it won't light them up as a target in any way. Its like they have ecm if you couldn't see them naturally unless someone else on your team can see them naturally.

There are hardly any advantages to this, but they can fix that so it is. The only ones so far are, Being able to peek over ridges, hills, etc making it easier for tarts. Knowing where your legs are and better view.

Other than that the disadvantages are quite a few. Throws your aim off. Zoom is like what -3 then 1st. The little probe that fallows blinks so brightly making it way easier to spot or be spotted. This is what ive seen so far bout it.
