I am going to assume (possibly incorrectly) the the beta test will require a PC that can at least run the game. Performance tuning comes later, otherwise why go to the trouble of collecting hardware profiles.
At least run the game, sure. But that's still a
really wide berth. Actually I'd imagine they're getting more mid-low range computers in on the beta than high-end ones, as it stands to reason that most of their development/testing in-house computers are in the med-high to high-end range and thus don't require as much input on stability as something lower on the spectrum.

Secondly. 110,000 registered users have
never posted on the forums, which approximately 70% of the registered users [

But that isn't relevant. I've seen a few NDA-breeching beta posts so far from people who, prior to that, hadn't made a single post. So it's obvious they're handing them out
randomly with zero preference towards "community involvement", and that's the way it should be honestly. Like I've said in other threads, CBT isn't "early access for big fans", it's a random and varied sampling of a userbase intended to test and guage assorted features. If they started handing out keys for "community involvement", post whoring rates would go through the roof and the forums would be a mess. Suffice it to say I doubt this is anything the developers want to encourage in the slightest.
