the first glimpse i ever saw of the franchise was as a commercial on the vhs release of stargate, what i saw was the intro to MechWarrior 2 immediately i was enraptured in the Mech world.
i got my taste of action it was on V.R headset and i was awesome
Since then i have followed every MechWarrior game Except the Arcade series which is not worth the words to express how i feel about it. and also i still have the T.V series Battletech.
since then i have waited and this day has finally arrived although slightly disappointed that there will not be a console port this has encouraged me to get a decent gaming pc so i can play this game!
Thankyou guys you have taken a huge risk and its obvious that if you weren’t true MechWarrior fans you would not have been so patient for you opportunity to deliver a Worthy Mech title to us.

To all those who have played since inception I salute you, I came in with the 1996 release of Mechwarrior 2, learned about battletech from then on...aff is my continual first response. People sometimes know me as the loremaster if they are BT fans, and others know me as 'the battletech guy' if not. I consider myself a Battletech missionary, let us all continue down the path Kerensky has set for us and rock this game the only way we know how, No guts no galaxy!

Therefore I am very very grateful to all people who helps to contribute to make the Sci-Fi dream of my youth finally come true next year!
Thanks!
PS: The most awesome about the whole thing is, it's F2P!

Circle-strafing was used to be evasive or by smaller 'mechs against assaults to even the odds abit since otherwise the assault 'mech wins in 5-10 seconds. When piloting the heavier/slower 'mech you just expect it and are surprised when the lighter 'mech doesn't try to employ lateral strafing attacks. However, it also should not be the only tactic available to lighter 'mechs, which was the case in earlier MechWarrior games.
Sniping was only a problem with third-person=on matches since obviously they could see over hills and jump-jet or pop over and get a shot off before you could target them. Otherwise the tactic was ineffective since the sniper took longer to aim than the snipee. A First-Person only game solves this, I think, but I guess it depends on how 'mechs are targetted also.
Can't wait for the dynamic destructable city maps. That will be awesome!
I have played alot of online games, but MechWarrior remains the best by far and it sounds like MWO will only improve on that experience. Thanks for working so hard to bring it to us.

Hoping we see the ability for light mechs to stand up to assaults as they should be able to...it all comes down to the skill of the pilot.

I've played over a dozen MMO's in the last 15 years. Being F2P is a good choice with things the way they unfortunately are. I do hope you'll build on this universe however. I envisioned one day making this game myself. I know you had to make hard choices and compromises but hopefully you can bring in more than just the multiplayer mech combat aspect to the game.
Character personalization, out-of-mech activities, armor, aerospace, artillery, infantry, customizable housing, achievements, etc all are future things that would diversify the world and player experience. It would increase immersion into the universe and create time and C-bill sinks for hours and hours of player enjoyment. Naturally game balance will be an issue with the addition of some of those, but I'm sure it's nothing you can't handle.
Housing can also lead to structures for Merc groups (guilds), perhaps manufacturing as well some day. Many a player enjoy an in-depth crafting system. Creation of weapons, ammo, and perhaps eventually stock mechs themselves with player created structures. This can always extend to future missions to attack/defend said structures. Greater Faction/Clan involvement perhaps gaining favor or enmity with them based on your actions.
Another time sink that far too many games ignore is one or more mini games built into the game. Perhaps a simple game to make small amounts of C-bills or to acquire personalization items like clothes or furniture. Maybe you could put in a version of the awesome Battletech CCG into the game and players can get cards as rewards or buy them around the galaxy.
Anyway, just some thoughts, I hope you design with lots of room to grow. I'm definitely looking forward to this game. Also, the idea of urban tactical combat has always been one I felt wasn't done right in the previous games. I'm very happy to see this is a focus.
