Ill be honest, Ive never played the BattleTech or MechWarrior tabletops, although I own some sets( No one really plays it anymore so I never got a chance), Ive definatily played the games, Mech Commander 2, Mech Warrior 4, and Mech Assault, and those kicked serious ***.

Honestly here's my opinion...

Remember Day 1 studios? yea i said it. MECHASSAULT thats what i want to see. not Mechwarrior as much even though mechassault and mechwarrior are essentially the same game, i want to hear the rest
of Foster, Natalia and the Mechwarriors story. and i think there is more to be told.

Started from Earth Siege 2, moved on to Mechwarrior 3, drooled with Mechwarrior 4 Mercenaries, then felt hunger pangs and suffered from severe withdrawal symptoms because of my addiction. The trailer back in 2009 made me breathe for the first time in years!

Piranha, IGP, Smith & Tinker, you guys rock!
Thanks a lot for bringing back one of the franchises that started me off on gaming!
Best of luck!
Looking forward to the launch and specially towards the development of a Single Player component!

Started with MechWarrior back in the day. I've played each and every one of the PC games. I ONLY play PC games.
I woke me wife up when I saw this game listed on a gaming site. I shouted YES!!! So loud, she came across the apt to see what I was making noise about.

MechWarrior was the game that got me into gaming. No single thing has had as much of an impact on my lifes entertainment. Not starwars. Not Star Trek. Not MMO's(Theough EVE Online comes close, hell I go to ICELAND for that). Battletech/Mechwarrior is it. Hell, I got Tattoo's about it :)

Suffice to say. I'm here. From start to finish. Played the PC games. Read the books. Own the Technical Readouts. Even a bunch of the miniatures. If anyone I knew played the tabletop game, i probobly would have played it too.

Thank you. And HURRY UP!! :D

Please direct your escape pod's guidance computer into the center of the nearest star and hit eject because you my friend have no idea what the hell you are talking about.

I personally will forever despise MA1&2 for being arcadey nonsense and that it essentially cannibalized the original MW5 in order to get a poorly done and laughable excuse for a squeal which I AM STILL MAD ABOUT TO THIS VERY DAY.

Specter was right, The storm was terrible in it's passing, it's just that it consisted of two poorly made games that **** near killed the franchise. if the guys at S&T hadn't come back to save it, I don't think we'd be here waiting for this game today, or any MechWarrior game for that matter.

Now i`m reading all this and worry: what if this game wont justify our hopes in implementation of physical model of projectile trajectory and zone hit, however massive multiplayer online games with centralized server cluster always lag... so precise sniping is doubtful, right?

As for you, sorry but the devs have clearly stated this is NOT a mechassault reboot, and I would be careful where you talk about that. Just about everyone on this board is still fuming about that and not as many are as kind as goon has been. So if that is your opinion, please be careful about how you state it and please at least give a gameplay reason why you like the game. The story was non-canon so no one here will remember or care about it...well ok no absolutes, maybe someone else will, but they will be hard to find.

Just a fellow mechwarrior, covering your six.

MechWarrior - yes
MechAssault - no way José!

xD

Now seriously. All in all, MA wasn't a bad game. But it's nothing compared to MW

Cheers

I am so overjoyed that this project has remained such a strong focus for Piranha Games. With such little to no information that i could find since the the promotional video release then of course seeing Harmony Gold USA trying to cause trouble, my heart sank.

A long time Mechwarrior fan here, began with the Animated series for me, which got me into MW2 as one of my first two PC titles, followed by MW2:Ghost Bears Legacy, MW2:Mercenaries, Mechcommander 1 & 2, MW3+Pirates Moon, MW4+Black Knight+Mercenaries, with some novels such as Twilight of the Clans series.

I understand Wizkids bumped the timeline fowards to give the Battletech Universe a fresh perspective, but I am so happy this is being based on the original timeline, I always felt it had so much more to offer than what Fasa Interactive and Microsoft (Fasa Studio's) released.

So from what I have read so far, the gameplan has changed in the last two years, from a Campaign based on the planet Deshler with a multiplayer feature, to purely an online multiplayer based title. So would I be right in thinking more along the lines of Kesmai's "Battletech: 3025" Beta that Electronic Arts tried to put foward all those oh so many years ago? If so, this is going to be something really special.

This will work out. Recent FTP projects ( one is a DotA child and another is about tanks) do show the potential of this gaming niche. Their success is overwhelming. Add the huge Battletech fanbase and you get miraculous starting conditions for an mmo.
I cant wait for it.

If I read the OP correctly, we would get "MechWarrior Online" instead of "Mechwarrior (5)", and not additionally.

Hopefully it will also include a "Clan Wars" or "Company Battle" similar to theese of WoT, where you will be able to choose a fight company vs. company including all your friends and choose a map. That way it would also support the numerous MechWarrior Resource-Leagues, that hopefully will show back up!

Been with the Mechs from the start. The hair may be grey, but the cockpit is still home.

I hear the sweet music of several tons of angry mech screaming to life; BRING IT PUNK.... Lets dance!

Thanks guys!
