Please keep the boardgame rules, and have either have a permadeath or limited lives (maybe 3 at max). This will allow people to think before they act. Also, allow players to tow salvage for parts/profit. I really hope this is a simulator not an arcade.

I hope some of you devs/designers played some btech MUSE/MUSH and/or Mechforce (amiga) by Ralph Reed. Those games are still talked about. Or stick to Mechwarrior 2 Mercs concept.

Thank you!!

Jason

p.s. - A side note: The Mech Warrior Living Legends team did a great job re-creating Mech combat, maybe you guys should think about having them work with you.

Oh yes. Living Legends is brilliant. I'd also like to see MPBT: EGA's out-of-combat mechanics be considered.

Excuse me if I don't believe the excuse the "big five" would turn you down. Unless you have no clue how to sell a pitch to somebody, there's no reason why it'd fail. As somebody who has experience in sales (D2D and R2R), the only reason the pitch would fail is you, Piranha Games, have zero ability to talk to people.

It comes off like cheap reasoning to go the "safe" route, and not bother to take a risk.

Big publishers have turned down great ideas before, and have regretted those decision when that idea turns into a huge success. How is this any different? The "Big 5" probably looked at the license, saw that Microsoft wasn't super successful with it during MW4:V/BK/M, and decided the risk to revive an old franchise wasn't worth it.
And they will regret it, a small company will be launched into success, and we will all have the Mechwarrior fix that we've been craving for years (sorry Mektek, I feel like i'm betraying you!).

Best of luck to you Piranha! I'm sure you make us proud!

I have played every mechwarrior game starting out with the original. I have enjoyed every one of them. I am hoping that this will continue to add to my list of favorite games to play!

I had the same reaction as some others when reading the announcements ("Is this real?"), because the concept of a Mechwarrior MMO is something I've often daydreamed about. It's bizarre and exciting to see it actually happening in real life. I wish you guys the best of luck.

It's actually been around for ages. First, there was MultiPlayer BattleTech, better known as MPBT: EGA, produced shortly after the original Mechwarrior game. Eventually it was replaced by MPBT: Solaris. Then MPBT: 3025 started production and was going to be released, but then EA axed it.

This is only one more in an actually fairly long lineage of BattleTech MMOs.

I think we have all been waiting for this, online mechwarrior, it is as if Kerensky has heard our pleas.

Unfortunately for myself I learned of the other games to late to be able to play them so for me this is it.

I've been a diehard Battletech player going back to the original releases in the 80s, and the GenCon parties into the early 90s (Wisconsin native).
I've got much of the original source material, and many of the novels, albeit mostly unused in the last decade.

Mechwarrior Online? **** yes. Don't make it cartoony like MW4 though please, go *****-deep into the mech lab and refit your mech to something more your style and own the battlefield with it! Give me 20 minutes with a Thug and I'll show you a heavy that'll knock over most assaults fairly quickly.

Ahh, to have my originals back though, THAT would be the icing on the cake. Any word on those? Ack, that's probably covered elsewhere in the boards. I'll save my questions until I've had time to poke around and read a bit.

Suffice it to say, you've got another follower!

My dream is to see them in the VWE Battltech pods
Just think of it, going down to a center agian hanging out with the people
that love this IP so much and playing online across the world against others with the same love.
Be the glory days of the center all over again.

I have had bad experiences with F2P games... I really hope this works out well for the both of us without cheesing the franchise up too much...

We here at the forums are remaining fervently hopeful...if it does not turn out that way, well I imagine that they will find out very quickly.

Way back in the day, and I mean way back, I played Activision's Mechwarrior online on GEnie. If this can add that scope of planet capture and unit movement, this game would move to epic proportions, but I'm all about having a new Mechwarrior game again. And thanks for taking back to 3015! 4th sucession war here we come!

To Bryan Ekman Russ Bullock and all the creative fish at piranha games!

Following Bryans blog for years now, waiting. Sometimes posting - we had some nice postings there about player skill vs. simulated skill and the like.

Now, out of nowhere - all of a sudden we have a name, a site, and a forum to talk about the new Mechwarrior!
What I read so far surpasses my expections! Really!

We'll meat us online lads - have fun creating this gem!

First off, I want to say think you guys for keeping this going. Though me and a few of my other fellow mech jocks have our worries about a F2P MW game, you have already noted that this wont be a pay to win idea, And if you hold true to that then I feel that this will be a great game. I have beeb playing since the days of MW2 with netmech all the way up to MWLL which rekindeld my love for the game. If I had to put my two cents in I would say give us loads of mechs (MW4 + all the mech packs that MekTek came out with (what some 100+ mechs or something)) and give us the customizability of MW2 and 3. WOuld be nice to hit someones ammo supply and watch it low a hole in the side of their mech. (this would keep people from not properly placeing armor in some spots, you all know what i mean from MW4) Also... Directional Jump Jets. Keep up the good work and we await patently for Videos, Pictures, and of course Beta testing :)

I am excited to see a MW game period and I hope F2P works, I was hoping for something requiring a monthly subscription that borrowed from some of EVE onlines mechanics as far as Economy and community and had its own unique mech sim combat. However so much dedication over such a long time certainly gives me faith that you guys want to do right by the fans and the franchise, so bring it on I cant wait to see where this goes!
