People are not "Wasting" others time, all you need is more than 1 mech to drop again.
Aside from that, if someone wants to save their mech, more power to them. No point in wasting a good mech when you team gets rolled anyhow.

Feel free to leave and play another match.
"But he is blocking my mech".
There we have it.
You put your inconvenience above others.

1 - When you installed and launched MWO for the first time, you agreed to be bound by the game rules determined by PGI.
2 - This also includes posting etiquette, i.e. not to support or encourage irregular behavior and rule-breaking.
3 - Revealing the position of any 'Mech on your team is against the rules; furthermore, it is an abuse of the spectator system.
4 - Supporting and encouraging this behavior is also against the rules.
5 - When you launch into a match, you agree to be bound to it until a) the timer runs out,

6 - It is true that some players run and hide early in a match to pad statistics and annoy others.
7 - However, it is unreasonable to expect other players to drop dead at your behest, to your benefit.
8 - If you're extremely curious about the outcome of the match, that is solely your concern: spectate or survive until the end.
9 - Everyone has access to at least 4 'Mech bays and 4 Trial 'Mechs, one of which is a Champion and usually playable.
10 - If you want to keep playing very badly, you can just leave the match and use any other of the 'Mechs at your disposal.
Going afk is also against the rules...
Sso running away in a map like alpine or tourmaline powering off, and do whatever you want but playing while the 2 slow stalkers try to get to your base is a complete waste of time.
99% of my mechs are light (because I have a Cicada which is a medium mech

- Do I care about my KDR? NO. because is meaningless.
- Do I care about having fun? Yes. That is why I started the thread.
- Can I force you to fight instead of hidding and acting like a KDR-etard? No, I can't force you.
- Can you report me? Yes you can, and I could report you as well for going afk. But no time for that.
So what can I do to help ending the match faster? Well, if I see that you are hidding just because (not plannign to cap or fight anymore) I will call out your position.

Speak for yourself and don´t hide behind 22 others.
I am not obsessed about my KD -
but i am watching almost all matches till the end and if it bores me i just leave and start another match.
If i can do that without being a jerk why can´t you ?

I'm not "hiding behind" 22 other people. In fact, I'm right here confronting you. Ironically, YOU'RE the one who's hiding, aren't you?
I'm pointing out that people who run off and hide (and if it's not to protect your KDR, why do you do it? Purely out of spite? Because you find standing still for 3-5 minutes, doing literally nothing, fun?) don't seem to realize that there are A LOT of other people waiting just for you. Have a little consideration, man.

If your team is already losing by 6 or 7, why would you hide and waste people's time until time runs off?
I understand that sometimes when you are in that position of losing by A LOT people hide to wait a few moments before they attempt a cap but some people simply hide when they feel that they are too damaged and could die! -.-
If you know that KDR is an useless stat, then why would you care about it?!
If you are a player that cares about your ELO then you should worry about the insignificant KDR.
When I see this happening, I simply call off his/her position for the enemy top kill him
(if in my team) And I dont care if get reported for that.
I respect the way people play but I hate when people hide instead of helping the team.
Calling off the position of a teammate is against the mechwarrior code of conduct and if you do it in a matchth i am playing i will take the appropriate steps.

No one is forcing your to wait... quit and use a different mech just like pgi recomends.

Go ahead and call out a teammates position and i will take the appropriate steps and soon I will no longer have to drop with people like you..... i am good with that.

A player - let's call him Sky Chicken (not his real name) - was the only enemy Mech left against 8 on my team. He was in a relatively undamaged Spider.
So he suicided...! That's right. Instead of trying to kill one of us and earn some cash for himself and his team, he deliberately killed himself!
When I asked Sky Chicken why, he said ''I was vastly out-numbed.'' When I *cough* expressed annoyance *cough* and pointed out that he could have gotten a final kill (I've often gotten three kills in that kind of situation) he said ''I am denying you my salvage''.
What The Fr4ck is that about..?! He doesn't personally lose anything when the enemy wins CBills. There's not some great galactic post-death accounting book that penalises anyone for how many CBills they provide the enemy in a PUG game!
It was just poor sportsmanship; absolutely selfish and pathetic.
To some people denying the opposing team something is the best option.... nothing wrong with that.

Is funny to see how people rage when you call out their position... I would never do it if the guy is hidding because he is attempting to cap or trying to to do something else BUT... if he is simply hidding just because I WILL CALL OUT THEIR POSITION ALL THE TIME.
-It is also against the rules to be sitting afk during the match so for those who rage on me for calling out your position because you decided to go AFK and waste the rest of the time go ahead and report me.
hiding is a tactic and somepeople are concerend about elo...... if somepne hide and is not afk they have broken no rule... if you think they are afk report them but remember false reports are against the uniform code of mech warrior conduct..... someone else violating a rule does not jsustify you breaking a rule.

1) Was on frozen City and there is just a Cicada and I left with 5 of them. So the two of us go down fighting and kill an Atlas, a Stalker and a Catapult. To bad for us the Catapult got me and legged the Cicada but we had fun.
2) I was the last on Tourmaline and after killing the Trenchbucht on out base i charge around the corner shouting "You will never take me alive" Only to see all 5 of them there and well they didn't take me alive.
3) One of two left on Forrst Colony and was able to zip through the arch killed two with a single shot each (blind luck) making a few of them run but got killed by the Hunchback who stayed to fight.
Heck don't hide fight and die with honor or just have some fun.

except if you get reported you face a bann
What? it certainly is hurting a member of your team.... just becasue you are dead does not mean you get to harm a teammate... I guess they dont teach sportsmanship in schools any more. Also calling out a team members position is against the uniform code of mechwarrior conduct. (sorting liek the us militaries ucmj) and i will screenshot and report every violation of this rule i run across. No one si forcing you to stay quit and use a defferent mech just like pgi suggests. Lastly stop being selfish and expecting people to die jsut becuse you dont want to wait. if they find joy in managing to survive when out numbered 5 to one by picking a spot where they won't be found that is their privalege.

The worst part is they try to act like everyone else is at fault because don't want to wait several minutes while they hide in a corner, which happens a LOT on Terra Therma in particular.
Fortunately, again, doing this is directly against the rules. If you're just letting the enemy take the cap points, don't have any reasonable way to win, and instead of fighting/dying/capping you just go to a corner and shut down... you are violating non-participation rules very clearly.
While I was in error, again, earlier in the thread with the new rule I admit that. It's time these people who keep coming in here trying to use words like "Honor" every other line to justify something that is incredibly selfish, griefy and a violation of rules.
Don't just disconnect: Take a screenshot and mail support. Encourage your whole team to do the same thing.
Given you're allowed to say someone is AFK, I'm also assuming you are allowed to say someone is hiding if you don't call out where, so you can likely encourage the other team to send reports in as well.
The easiest way to get rid of this isn't to help make sure their 'mechs die, it's to make sure they get a rules violation. They're more likely to remember that.
I cannot stress enough I'm not talking about pilots still trying to win. If you're at 700 points in Conquest and have the cap points left to win, by all means, run like hell! Hide! Survive! The difference is you are still trying to win the game, and in that case, the best course of action is to evade, flee, and avoid. It's a strategy.
Now if the same 'mech is facing only owning two cap points with a 300 point gap against them, outnumbered 3:1.. hiding in this case isn't strategy. Because you are no longer trying to win, do damage, or engage the enemy. You're just avoiding a fight and that's where non-participation rules come in.
It's a very, very clear divide.
No you are not allowed to say someone is hiding and if you do that in a match i am playing i screen shot and take the appropriate steps for someone that is helping the enemy team.

READ THE THREAD.
As stated, don't do this.
Because running off and hiding with no intention of trying to win is a violation of the non-participation rules. Report them instead.
It is an older rule than bird ******* by a long shot.
[Apparently that word is somehow censored? Is it some horrible slang for something I'm totally unaware of?]
Can you link us to where is says trying to stay alive in a match to the best of your ability is a violation of the rules?

Why do i do it? Maybe i like knowing i am smart enough to survive when i am out numbered 8 to one and still they cant kill me... It doesnt really matter whey i wasnt to do it tho... it is not violating the rules jsut becuse you dont like that i do it. Birdspotting is against the rules tho... swearing at me in chat is against the rules....... no one is stopping you from quitting the match if your dead and expecting me do die easily jsut because you do want to quit is childish of you....
