Are you high? It's in no way a breach of code of conduct. If anyone the pilot that's attempting to power down and hide to drag a match out by several minutes is disrupting the game far worse than anyone.

Because clearly, wanting the game to fail is the reason I don't want the last guy in a match to run off and power down in some remote corner with the express intent of dragging out the clock. Again, if someone has ANY chance of victory - fine. If someone is actively trying to engage - fine.

But this {Scrap} is the same thing as back in early RTS games where you had to kill all units, and someone would hide an infantryman on the map to drag the game out just to be a {Richard Cameron}.

You msut be the one who imbides... Bird sporring is clearly violating the rules.... and jsut becasue you think someone else is violating the rules no not a jsutifible reason to you to break them... if you think someone is breaking the rules report them be remember false reports are a violation of the rules.

In fact just yesterday our team got rolled 11-0 and the last guy in our team was going to hide having 7 minutes left on the clock... Guess what, I called out his position causing him to rage (loled at him)

He called me an A--hole, I called him a noob KDR-etard.

Fellow players help me and report this individual for admitting he violated the birdspotting rule and his language both in a match and on this forum..

Thank yoiu

YOU ARE.. FORCING.. EVERYONE'S.. 'MECH.. AND.. MODULES.. TO STAY.. IN MATCH

Do you understand that?

And you come across as someone who desperately wishes they were a hippie in the 60s, but are doing it wrong, most of the time. (i.e. "Down with the over 30s man they're all jaded and the cynics or something!") It's so pronounced and OTT I sometimes honestly am not sure if you are a serious account or not. It's really gimmicky.

You have other mechs and if you need more modules buy them.... your lack of preparedness should not have an impact on someone eles play.

Ah ha. I do believe you've just been owned Funkadelic. It's a TOS violation to do what you're doing!

So you're right. I advise everyone to NOT call out these positions, but instead take screenshots and report the hiding 'mechs.

Please look at the rule above. Posted Image

I apologize for my earlier suggestion to call their coordinates, I was unaware of that rule being added (in the last month, I haven't checked for two or so). That said what you are doing is directly against the rules, so yeah.

Remember folks a big part of this rules is "repeated abuses" and another part of the code is not to make false reports.

The denial is strong in this one.

This thread is and always was about light 'mechs that power down and stretch the end of the fight out. It was always about the last 'mech left. Hiding as a strategic move in the game is fine but that is not at all what you, I, or anyone here was discussing.

What you were directly stating over and over again is that it was cool if you were the last 'mech left to run off and hide and avoid a fight and just let the enemy complete objectives.

That is directly and clearly a violation of the rules.

Don't turn this around, and there is no way to word your way out. What you were endorsing is clearly, clearly a reportable offense. I was admittedly in error stating you could call your position, as it is a fairly new rule again (added in the last month), so I strongly encourage pilots to take screenshots and mail support instead.

Actualy you misquoting the rule.... It is a violation of the rules to do that REPEATEDLY.... but i guess you skipped that word because it doesnt fit your lame opinion.

not if the mech fought the entire fight and is forcing the other mechs to separate and look, or cap. Hiding, nothing wrong with except to jaded founders. You cant read minds....

As I said and will say for as long as this game is on the net. "YOU..... HAVE.... TO .... EARN..... MY...... SALVAGE....."

Were is this jaded founder garbage coming from..... just because you to cheap to contribute to the game does not mean we are jaded.....

I have too much berserker in me to power down and hide. But calling out a team mate is wrong. They have earned a right to finish as they please by staying alive. Even when we are grinding out a new mech and we find it irritating.

We are talking about 2-4 mins here. Take a leak and get out a Slim Jim. Snap into a Slim Jim like a boss Pilot. Relax a bit. Enemy team can also cap when they start hiding. Some blame goes there too.

I love all the guys saying its a valid tactic ignoring this " FAILURE TO PARTICIPATE IN CORE GAME MECHANICS" in the violations of CoC. You think that might not include running off shutting down and trying to wait 7 minutes to the end of the game, holding up 23 other players from getting to the next match? I do.

Just report the last guy shutdown. There's no use arguing with people who don't see the point.

Which is that death is meaningless in this game. It's all about the CBills. If I'm the last guy, I'm always hunting for weak spots, or just going leroy. Every extra hit is more CBills/XP for me.

Also, they have too much time on their hands. Because 8 minutes of their real lives is clearly worth a digital number.

Hey, just let me retreat off the map instead. Then if for some reason I don't want to be an exp/C-bill snack for the other side when the rest of you died five minutes in and by some stroke of luck I didn't, I can simply take myself away instead of looking like a brain-dead mouthbreather engaging six nearly fresh opponents in my heavy on a suicide run.

You can even penalize me based on how long the match continues after I leave. Last guy and I leave? Zero penalty and nobody's mad. Chicken out halfway through? 50% penalty to exp/C-bills. But hey, the other side didn't get damage/kill/salvage/potential savior kill rewards out of my easily torched carcass.

Think about the fact that right now, the only damage a lone survivor can do right now to the other side is -survive-, as the longer they do so, the more time it took for the inevitably winning team to earn their rewards. You're dead and on their side? You should be cheering him on, he's actually doing more "damage" than you did in the long run by running the clock down. You got stomped, but I guarantee you're losing fewer exp and C-bills per tick of the clock than the dominant team did.

Too bad you can't double like a post, this one deserves it. This is exactly the point and there are a lot of issues that lead up to situations like this; MM weight imbalance, wacky ELO matching, multiple 4-man teams on one side, etc. There are tons of threads here that point out these issues.

People rarely run off to hide when their team is winning, which means it happens when these people believe the team is going to loose, usually because they crumbled beneath a roll. Hiding in the corner is for some a means of causing more damage than a shot or two with their weapons. Some people are just not skilled enough to take out 5 healthy enemies themselves and they know it. I seriously doubt there are a lot of people sitting there saying "I really want to annoy my team, so let me go hide". More like "god, the guys that could not break 200 damage or survive beyond a minute wonder why we got rolled and they have the gall to tell me to go die because they are impatient". The majority of the situations where I have seen people hide/overheat-suicide/run-off-the-map is because their team decided to play house of cards in a stiff breeze.

On a side note I think there are some serious misconceptions regarding the "non-participation" clause. There is a grey zone here and a few seem to take it a bit too black and white. There should be no doubt that the guy above in his hunchback who fought hard during the battle has participated sufficiently, even if he decides to wait under the bridge to see if a final opportunity presents itself or not. Derping about and dying early with less than 50 damage to claim at the end of the match may count as "participation" for some, but I honestly would have wanted to trade those players for a turret instead of their glorious "participation".

Remember, just because you're outnumbered because the enemy team was killing your team, that your allies weren't just standing there looking blanky at the enemy, they were actually dealing damage, make sure their damage actually means something. You might just turn out to be a badass that kills most of the enemy team. You will probably get a few people saying "thank you" for finishing off that guy that they almost killed, but died before they could.

Even if you are in no codition to fight (little to no weapons left, or little armor), you should either try to cap, or try to lure enemies away from your team by distracting them, or just spot for your team (even if there's no lrms, information is ammunition).

Like Zphyr said, you should only hide if you're going for a cap win in conquest.

This pretty much happened to me a few days ago on an Assault Canyon map. My entire team was destroyed except for me in my Centurion and I was missing a leg and out of AC5 ammo. Knowing that I couldn't take on the rest of the 7 members of the opposing team, I crawled back to my base and prepared for my final stand.

In the end, I was able to core 4 mechs before dying to a Jenner who had a red center (by then, I was absolutely wrecked and only the weapons were still working) and getting high praise from my team.

Perhaps PGI needs to revisit the EJECT feature with enemy team getting the cbills for salvage and the ejectee not having to take a "death".

If you punched out, the 'Mech is dead via "suicide", as you've just removed the cockpit.

It's common-sense a "kill", like if you override a 'Mech to death via overheat damage.

Again, it's not hard. Just stop blowing 'Mechs up and utterly penalizing them for going OOB and make it a "retreat" instead. The 'Mech isn't killed, it gets penalized based on how long it stayed in the match vs. when it ended, and the enemy team gets "assist" rewards for driving it off the field. No kill/salvage for the enemy, no death for the pilot- he got what was left off the field to be fixed up instead of becoming salvage for the victors.
