Terra Therma Is Not Ready To Be Played On

2. The lava appears liquid, but is solid? You can walk on it, yet when you see someone else in it they appear to have sunk in?
3. Heat penalty is utterly unrealistic. The ambient temperature should be wicked cold, (this is a moon, after all) and then heat up to ridiculously high levels around and in the lava. Right now it's just somewhat hot all over, which makes little sense.
4. Map is too big. There is unnecessary space on this map that needs to be eliminated.
5. Frequent mini-crashes, screen flickering, view distortions, and other visual glitches. The glitches received by crashing into another mech appear all over this map, regardless of whether or not you are colliding with another mech.
If you've played on the map, you have to know what I mean! It feels like a pre-alpha development that was just tossed into the game with no testing! Seriously, was this map ever tested??
I love the visuals and the volcanic moon conecpt is very cool. But it NEEDS WORK!! LOTS OF IT!

1. We are still in beta, large scale testing finds bugs that developers that miss... one of the main point of large beta deployment.
2. See Point reply to point one. REport the bug/error on map to MWO devs in the forum or support ticket?
3. You are on a very hot moon that has volcaneos and continuos tectonic plate shifting, REDACTED If it was cold no volcanos could exhist on the orbiting moon... unless I am missing some common knowledge about heat, tectonic pressure and volcanos...
4. Map is not too big, if light mechs are being part of the team they will scout. If light mechs choose not to scout but instead just look for the next fight, they are playing the map wrong. Playing the terra therma wrong is is not the fault of the map itself, when your suppose to have role warfare. Wait until 12v12 to say map is too big please, as then a lot of peoples opinion might change with the larger scale warfare.
5. See point one...
We can all agree it needs work for its bugs/errors, but saying that its size needs to be smaller when 12v12 is coming soon doesn't help any map that is team centric. In fact many maps will need to increase in size to accomidate more situations of role warfare / More MEchwarriors. Additionally maps that are roughly the same size as Terra Therma run better as the MWO / Clients are not bunched up in one location. Taking it off the map rotation would be a bad idea as we are BETA testing the map, in its current state, it would be a different case if MWO was fully released (Sept 17) then I would agree with ya.

Iceland has volcanoes all over, doesn't mean Iceland is 98 degrees all over.... in fact there is snow on the volcanoes. That is on a habitable planet like Earth with a very insulating atmosphere, very unlike a desolate moon which would lose heat like crazy. Temperature variation is a must. You should go up to like 50-60% heat standing in lava.
As for the map is not too big.... Perhaps they need 2 versions of this and other maps, 1 smaller for 8v8 and another larger for 12v12. Personally, I don't think base defense is a plausible play style in PUGs.

I apprehiate that information Aeten, thank you for the information about Iceland. Maybe because it is on a active (dead moon would not have voncanic activity?) moon they want to keep it hot? There are many lava flows on the map that would cause the heat to be nearly identical for most of the map not countingthe lava pit in the center of the map. Right now we have 2 hot maps including this one, mabye PGI wants to have a even number of cold maps and hot maps? We just have to wait and keep testing it, as 12v12 will determin if the map is fuction with the larger amount of mechs.
I really wish the threads would stop about removing Terra Therma from rotation, seems like in these threads half the people that respond enjoy it (agree though it has some errors/bugs, it is BETA).

Op's number three suggestions is on point completely. I do appreciate some realism in my fantasy games, thank you very much. It helps quite a bit with immersion.

Basing your logic on what these planets and moons are like based just on what ours is like seems a bit wonky considering the infinite variables possible in a universe with infinite possible planets, moons, suns, and combinations.
Another thing, just because something is a "moon" doesn't have to mean that it has no atmosphere.

Fellow Templar, in an effort to avoid typing a whole bunch of information out again, I direct you to this thread:

No, point 3 is very ignorant. Being a "moon" does not automatically make a body cold.

Whether the moon is warm or cold, (most moons are cold, most rocky bodies are cold, for that matter, and there is no evidence of a thick atmosphere on this moon) the atmospheric temperature should not be anywhere near that of the lava. There is no reason why your heat should be at 11% on top of a mountain and dipped in a lava lake. It's a ridiculously unrealistic experience that begs to question if this game is really being developed in 2013.

You are piloting a fusion powered, anthropomorphic battle machine and you are appealing to realism?
MechWarrior and realism are as compatible as snorting bath salts and then operating heavy equipment.

Calling something Beta is a speech of lazy people.
We are paying for this product: this is not beta since the Founders Program.
PS: the map really has many problems:
1- I use to get stuck in a lot of places.
2- there are some boxes in the spawn point that don't let you move.
3- I dive my mech on lava and receive no damage? come on!

I enjoy the dynamic lava introduces but should be more aggressive. If Lava caused more damage but the lava flows were such that they added significantly improved movement options/attack paths then the map would be more interesting.
I do enjoy the emphasis it puts on scouting you enemy. Role warfare is good!

I think the map needs a pass on smoothing out some of the terrain anyway, but I will wait and see after the fix goes in.

That and the frequent movement bugs. I see quiate a few assaults getting stuck on the transition from rock toone of the metal bridges, and once it happend to my Centurion.

You've got 5 weeks left of that old chestnut, then we'll see what excuses people can come up with.

I doubt they'll do anything within 5 weeks - at the moment, that's only going to be two patches if they skip weeks like last time.

next thing its buggy... getting stuck especially on larger/slower mechs is very common

dunno what are you talking about ever since it went OPEN beta it was pretty much launch... there is not much that will change after "launch" in september... we will still get patches, mechs, maps, bugs and get to test new stuff and besides there is now a TEST SERVER so i believe most major stuff should be polished there (an unpassable entrance to mid area should be one of those)
yea and dont forget your "beta" ends in month
as i said in the thread in patch feedback:
looks of map - absolutely best of all
gameplay - horrible
