There is a way to give it a pass......not play it it. We all have money. I have plenty of it. Wont blow it on a game sight unseen. And for this I have to play with one foot in the hole?? Im highly competitive so I wont play that way. So easy pass.

Highly Competitive? and starting out with a Foot in the hole? Really? For supporting the game it's a shiny forum tag and credits and a little cheaper cost for hard in game cash. Yes I get 4 mechs with Prime Configs which grant +25% more credits? Ohhh Noooessss. Your poor foot is stuck in that hole badly from that. Of course, With so many more mechs I want to play over the 4 founders, I won't be running them. And if I do run one of the founder types, it probbly won;t be the prime.. So again not a founder mech..

Everything else You can purchase on Day one. Or you can try the game out in it's free 2 play mode.

I threw money after this game because I wanted to, because I hope my contrbution helps see this game become one we all want it to be. Sure it might end up being awful. But it's not the first time I bought a CE edition of a game I hoped would be Great only to watch it fail.. (The Last Final Fantasy MMO comes to mind.. 2 CE's one for me and my wife.. Ugh)

Sure I understand not want to thow money at the game until you know if you like it or not. But lets be realistic here, if you don't buy a founders all you miss out on really are a discount on in game cash, and some months of Premimum. Both of which you can buy on day one. Ya there are the 4 founders mech in a prime variant. But since they are planning on starting with 10 Mechs W/ 4 Variants each. 40 Mechs, Do you really think everyones founders mech will see all that much action?

Considering the devs said we be able to play it with in the Summer of 2012 things will most likely be picking up around August. The Official end of Summer is September 21, so I know a bunch of people are going to be in school/college by then. Open beta and full release will most likely be between Aug 7 - September 21. Most likely mid- late August, early September at best.

I love fanboys that will throw money at anything....
All I want is to actually feel the interface, the way the mechs move, how the customization has been set up... etc..... The end game content is a must as was pointed out clan battles in WOT are kind of single sided.... You have 12-14 clans that have been trying to camp for an extended time and no incentive to move on until someone comes through and cleans house. After it has been cleaned they will simply move back in.

The challenge that you have with WOT's Clan Wars is the no presure alliances. They just move territories around as agreed most of the time. There is no forced conflict, like the Axis and Allies in WWII. If they implemented that with in the Clans that would force more turn over. (but this isn't a WOT forum)
This game, however has a back story, a history. There are Houses in game allready that have conflict. That is a good thing.
You could take this one step more and have the clans vote in house leadership and only the house leadership could declare war or allies. If you think your house is attacking enough, take your clan to a different house or become a Mercenary.
There is Much more to this I know.

edit spelling.

This is EXACTLY what Im talking about. I dont care about getting into closed beta that much or my name in credits, I just dont want to lose out on the other stuff becuase I wont part with my money sight unseen.

You're not losing anything.

Stop stressing mate. ;)

In any given match a founder will earn a few more C-Bills than you, perhaps a few more XP.

So. What.

This is not just aimed at you, but to everyone who's getting themselves worked up.

Please stop stressing. Thanks. :)

I still say that a true fan would have no problem supporting a team who's trying to bring their favorite game back.

If you want to feel the interface so bad, go to the mektek website and watch the beta videos that were leaked.

It is good, but please not blind devotion. A lot of bad things happen when people just blindly devote themselves to something without seeing if its any good. I know right now its good, but what if mechs were all going to be dumbed down to this formula for balance. Light 1 weapon mount medium 2, heavy 3, and assault 4. Sometimes you need to critically think, devs need criticism as much as praise to figure out what they did right and wrong. Though so far I've seen nothing to indicate this game is going to suck.

P.S. for those of you living in your parents basement makeing 8 an hour stop insulting those of us not willing to waste money on a game we have not seen. We have plenty of money BECAUSE we dont waste it.

I don't think you quite have your demographic right there dude...

So lets start...

1) Me buying the founders pack was the same as pre-ordering it IMO.

2) How come you're trying to tell a company they have bad marketing, when obviously enough liked it that 10,000 people bought it sight unseen in the first day of it coming out?

3) Not everyone that bought it makes minimum wage, or part time, or lives at home. I live in a different state than my parents, I make more than minimum wage, and I work full time.

Stop trying to push your thoughts about what a waste of money it is on the rest of us.

What is going on here? I just don't get this.

This is a F2P game. You don't need to spend a single dollar if you don't want to. Don't think the game is worth 60 bucks without knowing anything about it? Great! That's totally cool! Don't spend any money and when the game is officially released you will have literally an unlimited demo period to decide if you want to throw cash in the hat. There is NO DOWNSIDE WHATSOEVER to not spending any money. People who laid down $120 get early access and some cool toys andsome perks, but hey they spent $120. You can play the exact same game with the exact same mechs for $0 (Zero) (Nada) (Nothing).

Please, for the love of God stop complaining when you don't have to spend a dime to play this game when it comes out.

Would you buy a car with out a test drive?? NOPE!!! WoT got it right on this one (they fail in other areas). MWO fails.

LOL, I've bought plenty of cars without a test drive, matter of fact the last 2 pickup trucks I bought, where done by looking online to see what the dealer had on his lot, and making a call.
No balls no blue chips. It's a gamble, if you can't afford to lose it don't spend it.
Keep in mind I have a Solaris VII box set in shrink wrap and a set of 3025/3050 in shrink wrap as well. Not to mention all the 1st edition books, considering that $120 is not that much.

Buy a car without test driving? Done that... didn't know how to drive stick when I bought my RX-7. I sure learned quickly.

Its a risk, some of us are willing to take it. You don't want to? You don't have to. Quit your whining.

Though not as much as I did to Piranha I donated to Dark Cryo for FUO and besides a few perks I get access to alpha sandbox. I donate because I would like the games to succeed and figure perks are a thank you from the devs.

Well Said Brien. I feel the 120 was worth it. I expect to get more enjoyment out of this game than any 2 single player games out there. If I do then it was worth the money. If not at least I can come back and play it for free whenever I want. The devs are making sure you cannot buy anything with real money that you cant earn in game. The c-bill boost is the same as not having a job and being able to play all day. Just makes life easier for those of us with jobs and families.

My understanding is that the release of F2P is something like STO going F2P. All players who paid something get it for (x) amount of time prior to the F2P release. While those who did NOT pay anything have to wait until the F2P release time, unless they get in by chance into the beta.

I think early access just sealed the deal for me and this little tidbit here....

Wednesday December 7th, 2011 is Wednesday December 7th, 3048.
http://mwomercs.com/...munity-warfare/
Clan invasion starts august 3049. Game launches Early access August 7, 2012....... Do the math....

The Clan Invasion (known to the Clans as Operation Revival) refers to the massive Clan invasion of the Inner Sphere, commencing with the arrival of Clans Jade Falcon, Wolf, Ghost Bear, and Smoke Jaguar in the near, coreward Periphery (The Rift and The Draconian Drift) in August, 3049.

Early access means clan invasion unfolds as you play.....

This means that the reason for a lack of open beta is because the server is active and tracking days and times. They want early access people to be able to experience the clan invasion sooner rather than later......
