Oh don't get me wrong, I am a mediocre pilot and I will derp my way to an early death sometimes, but I can at least recognize major mistakes when I make them, or I see someone else making them.

Your tracking ability with the lasers was very very good, especially at range, and while on the move. Most pilots I've watched can't maintain that kind of precision with lasers even while stationary. I liked the way the Victor pilot tried to roll/jump against your damage, but you timed your shots to put them where it hurt.

I'd rather have indepth game understanding and analysis over the best aim in the world.
You can train out bad aim.
But you can't fix stupid.

There is hope for you yet my friend!

Never had a problem with pop-tarts, so yeah...I think it's fine as it is.

In fact, I've always felt that pop-tarting was silly tactic to leave yourself exposed like that. Nothing funnier than coring a mech while it's floating helplessly in the air. :P

Pretty much this.

I've never had an issue with poptarting. It was kinda bad in MWLL for a bit before Jumping did any heat and thats only because a Novacat variant had 5 Clan Er Large Lasers plus jumpjets. Once heat was added and a little shake, that tactic went to the wayside for the most part. But it was never an issue for me in MWO.

I think part of it is due to my aggressive playstyle. I'm usually coming from the direction jump snipers aren't firing in and hit them from behind. At that point their jumpjets aren't all that useful. LRMs seem to work pretty well too except for the ones who know how to dodge them. Course for those, deadfiring their landing location works too... course again you have to be playing aggressively and not passively.

IMO, jumpsniping is a great counter to dugin clustered type play. A common tactic used by solo queuers not in groups. Without a wingman to support them, they typcially take a defensive position to make them a harder nut to crack. Well jump sniping can be a nutcracker if used right. This is probably why its so hated by PUG'ers. Haven't heard any complaints from my group about it.

When used against coordinated players... jump sniping is quite a bit less effective. Need speed to shoot and scoot after getting a shot in. They won't let you use the same spot for very long.

Jump shooting is not the problem. Pin point damage is not the problem. Players are the problem.

I've had so many games wherein players will just sit back and form a blob waiting to be executed by poptarts.

I doubt PGI has any idea what they're doing in regards to reducing the overall effectiveness removing jump sniping (different than poptarting™ ), otherwise they would have at least attempted to stop it long ago.

Cockpit shake did nothing to those who actually could jump snipe. All it did was move people into 4ppc stalkers.
