

What To Buy For 6500 Mc

It looks like I have 6500 MC, 14 mil CB. and a Yen Lo Wang.
I prefer Energy and Missile weapons. I have been practicing on Ballistics, but I am not competent yet.
What mech would you buy for 6500 MC with good energy and missile hardpoints? I prefer the CB boost from the Hero mechs.
Thoughts?

Uh, Orchid I hate to tell ya... That would make sense, but the actual hardpoints are as follows.
1 Missile (right torso) with 6 tubes. 5 energy (2 left arm, 2 right arm, 1 center torso). 1 ballistic (left torso).

If you are more experienced, get a Dragon Slayer. This is a really good mech but it needs some skill to drive this thing.
And of course get your builds from here, its a great site:

It is the best mech in the game. If you want to practice ballistics (ac20 or gauss), there isn't a more forgiving platform.

Comes with DHS, Endo, and a good sized XL to boot. Also leaves you some MC for other goodies
No missile hardpoints, but it has lots of energy HPs (and a couple of ballistic so you can get that practice in if you want)

I like the idea with the ERPPC's as they are very high placed.
But the mech seems to be a sniper?
I am basing this on the fact that 2 x ERPPC's becomes VERY hot VERY fast so brawling in it is not the best idea :b

It runs an XL sure, but it also has more ams ammo to deal with the missiles you will no doubt see in every game now, plus it gives you the same speed, 1 more heatsink and 2 Large lasers to deal more damage to lights together with the machine guns up close.
Plus if you want to the L lasers can also help you finish off someone from a distance better than the M lasers could.

I find that taking advantage of the high placement of the arms on the Jager is the key to success. exposing enough of your mech to use the lower hardpoints is not worth the risk; especially when you have an XL. LLs in the torso also mean that you have to spend more time facing your target.
Nothing wrong with your build (although 2 tons AMS ammo is almost never necessary), but it doesn't fit the play style I use

I think you got it wrong...
Its not intended to snipe with the L lasers...
The range on those is far too low compared to the ERPPC's.
The L lasers deal more damage faster up close than their smaller M cousins.
That was why I opted for L lasers.
Not to go over a hill and play ***** on the top of it xD
Play it like you would your own build, go hulldown and snipe with the ERPPC's and use the M guns and L lasers to scare off lights who gets too close.
Simple and efficient that way :b

I can take a Atlas headon and survive with this setup.
But for 6500 I'd venture for the champion atlas, as it has lotsa laser hardpoints, missiles and a ballistic point.

With some of the 14mil CB I'd buy another Cent pimped out and work up the piloting tree till I finished Basic and enough saved xp to finish out the second tier skills.
Then I'd take the left over CB's I had from the Cent purchase, the CB's gained from grinding the xp, and purchase my third Cent varient. Then grind it out just like the other.
After all that grinding I'd look back and see what ones I'd keep and sell the ones I hated. See how many bays I had empty and look at starting a new mech to skill up. Make sure I had 3 empty bays and look to see if the next mech had a hero and buy that first...

If you like going fast you could get a Spider, as they have been very popular lately and can be tricky to take down. I would prefer a Jenner D. Medium 'Mechs, I've been having fun with the Quickdraws lately, but you can never go wrong with a Centerion or Hunchy. A lot of people, including myself really enjoy the Victor, but you could always go for the extra tonnage and get a Highlander, Heavy Metal Is an excellent choice. It's all In preference.

If the LLs are not for ranged fighting then I would go with 4 MLs and extra HS (of you're already hot from the ERPPCs, LLs are going to be hard to use)
not to mention that lights are not as much of a problem when you can lose a ST and keep going. There as been a ridiculous number of times that I've gotten solid hits on lights because they slowed down to hit my ST thinking I had an XL.

Oh my I made a little mistake, I did not realize it could handle 4 M lasers in the torso...

Easily one of the fastest and most viable energy based Firebrands that are out there.
Regarding lights though, its all about positioning and awareness really :b

I'm sorta in the same position, I've got 3 Hunchie's P, SP, and J mastered/some with modules. All the Catapult's mastered/some with modules. With an empty mech bay. I've only got 305 MC right now and a little less than 35mil CB.
Looking at my next mech I'm thinking of either Cents, Jagers, Cataphracts, Victors, or Stalkers. I do want to eventually get a Hero that I'd like to grind CB with so I'll have to get some more MC's for it and some more bays. Just can't make up my mind how I want to go yet though.
