The fact the goons make up no more than 10% of the participating parties in these meetings seems completely lost on some of you guys.

There are many users who will let preferences and feelings override evidence. Just wade into gameplay balance sub-forums or mechs/builds sub-forums and look at all the advice people are giving each other even though the game they're playing doesn't support it, which is fine.. Play it how you want, but it keeps looping back to the fact that they're, either ignorantly or deliberately, using sub-optimal robots and some of them are giving out sub-optimal advice.

A sense of pride gets in the way of the facts, or larger truths. Some of it is blind faith that finally.. finally.. a real studio is producing a mechwarrior game. Support it at all cost. It may be the last chance we get.

The game launches alongside GTA V though, so I imagine any bad press it receives is going to be buried under the news cycle of journalism and player blogs reviewing the game. It makes me think back to Syndicate releasing, essentially, alongside Mass Effect 3.

I know I'm rambling and going well off the rails.
All I have faith in, at this point, is that there are many good games out there to play while MWO continues to endure its development, even if it ends up slowly bleeding out like Tribes Ascend did, another game I was excited for, but ultimately dropped because it couldn't capture the janky fun that was Tribes 2, which still exists btw via the fan project "TribesNext"... sort of like how Mech: LL still exists in some capacity despite the rumors of CnDs.

edit:

As for those of you who are still feeling strong for saveMWO, all you can really keep doing is keep on doing a soft-promo of SaveMWO and MechaLingua via putting the links as a header/signature to all of your posts and trying to remain constructive, not in ATDs or Official Feeds, but in a lot of the sub-forums like GAMEPLAY BALANCE, which for some reason has almost become the new General Discussion.

It's one thing to say "This is why the game is bad" but also give them something to use and try so that they can experience things like.. using the meta-builds in lower elo brackets, dominating with them, and then realizing they're going to end up fighting all the same builds as the so-called end game.

Like I said earlier, a lot of people do not crunch the numbers and go by feel and pride, so it wouldn't dawn on them to do the work to make a metabot because a sniper being great at all ranges is an unintuitive thought that I myself harbored for over 90% of my play time.

I'm basically asking everyone to break any notions of gameplay-related opsec to help enable people to gain first hand experience of our problems w/ the game.

Wow, guys, I go away for a few days to move my apartment, and you get the whole thread K-Towned.

The good news is, the positive conversations are ongoing, however they are ongoing in Mecha Lingua. PM me for access (we use Skype for the chat).

Of course PGI may threaten to perma ban anyone and everyone who enters in off site discussion of MWO.

Which would only make my self-imposed #@$%&This$%@! ban on logging on to MWO a permanent decision.

Again, they can bring me back, and probably many more like me, by simply making an honest and earnest response and assurance to return to original design pillars.

If that were true all of these other groups would not have signed up for #saveMWO, so I think it's safe to say you're a delusional liar based on the information we have available. Tragic.

Now, now Chrono, you know that if someone is delusional, they genuinely believe it to be true in-spite of all evidence to the contrary, so they can't be also lying about it, because lying means they are deliberately stating a falsehood.

I don't know which is worse, but I don't think it matters; still makes them wrong, no matter what way you cut it.

Well it's clear he's factually inaccurate, but I tossed in "delusional" exactly because he seemed so sincere and wanted to call attention to it.

From reading the thread, it seems that it was less "us" getting it k-towned, and more someone else trolling and getting the thread moved as a result

No no no you don't understand. GOONS are the REAL TROLLS because they type squawk into chat in a game, and they use the game mechanics to beat me, and they tell the devs to change the mechanics to make it better, and I'm pretty sure one of them hacked my computer, and all the people on reddit tell me that they are mean, and I heard you have to pay $150/month to be on their forums, and this one time in EVE they hurt my friend's feelings and

Excuse me sir or madam or gender ***** person
I am trying to make an unironic post about the discriminatory otherization which is happening in this thread. Some people are being very insensitive to my life choices and it hurts my feelings.
Also somebody is getting mad about video games.

Okay, I'm not certain I completely understand what the purpose is of #saveMWO? Is it about game balance, is it about getting the 'feel' of BattleTech rather than the specific rules of the tabletop game? I'm sort of confused about the specific points, here; I'm currently listening to the second MWO Community Townhall, but it sounds to me like a complete Charlie Foxtrot. I've heard arguments on all sides of many various matters, but no one seems to be in agreement over anything, really.

Now, I'm a BattleTech purist, I've been playing since '84, I hate the frackin' Clans with a major passion, and after having read much of what the devs have put out, what I've needed to catch up with since last September, it seems to me like the game is on the right track.

One of the problems I have is with the community, expecting to be paid 250,000 C-Bills PLUS complete repair and rearm per game, and expecting to be able to play with pin-point accuracy and all manner of other things that are, #1) completely away from the lore, and #2) would turn this game into Heavy Gear and MechWarrior 4.

If this latter is where you guys are, the entitled and lazy, then I can't support you. However, if someone can clarify for me what it is you're trying to do, and it's more in-line with what I believe, then you will have my support.

No, I participated in two threads earlier this evening where people were talking about C-Bills getting nerf'd. Being a long-time player, as I have been playing for a long time, since '84-'85, I expect the game to hold some modicum of accuracy -not total, but some- to the universe from which this game has emerged and should remain true to, without sacrificing fun.

#saveMWO is a group of people that come from different houses and units, who all generally believe the game suffers from imbalances and/or bad game direction. Now as far as to specifics of game imbalances/directions, we all have different opinions on the matter, but we all share a common belief in that the game itself needs improvement. We have organized ourselves into a community of representatives to discuss what can be done to help improve the game.

Unfortunately our first effort at reaching and getting acknowledgement from PGI about how we feel about the game have been ignored. While many of us would like to continue specific discussions on game balance, our current efforts are to try and reach PGI in some way so that our voices can be heard and our opinions can at the least be evaluated. Our doors are open to anyone who wishes to participate even if you feel the game is perfectly fine. We hope that the lines of communication can be opened and maintained with PGI so that we may continue more in depth discussion on what can be done to change the game for the better.

As far as any other statements made regarding our purpose to this organization they are false, unfounded, and lack any support of evidence. Some people just seem angry about us not liking the current game direction and our right to organize and discuss it. I hope that you can approach our group with an open mind, and would be willing to discuss things in a positive matter with us no matter how you feel. Since this thread has been removed to K-Town, I would like to provide you with the new thread we have formed. Please stop by and give us your opinions on the matter.
