I have the GXP and credits, and I'm running out of things to buy. Anyone mix these into their builds? Not sure if it's worth the exp./cred. Never really hear anyone talk about it. Must be either a well kept pro secret, or useless compared to it's alternatives. Thoughts? Suggestions? I run mostly brawler builds, usually on the heavier side.

I think that stuff is not good and you have seismic who serve you better range and dots on screen :)

no one talks about it because everyone uses it.

It allows you keep track of enemies outside of you field of view for more than a couple seconds.

more useful for lighter mechs than heavy, and more for brawlers and than ranged.

Unless you're getting pretty far down the list I would say skip this one. I own the module and rarely use it. I find Adv. Target Decay to be more useful in more situations.

It's useful for lighter mechs and brawlers, to keep target on something for your LRM support, while dodging enemy fire. It also helps if you're trying to keep track of an elusive light that's been harassing you, as you'll get your target back on him, even if he's out of your FoV, but he has LoS on you.

Contrary to what some believe, it does not allow you to maintain missile-lock on something out of your FoV.

With most mechs only having three slots or less, don't bother with this module. Seismic is far and above a better alternative.

read above on why 360 is better.

Seismic might be better for you personally, but 360 is better for the team.

Seismic and 360 serve different jobs and can't be replaced with each other. The choice isn't between Seismic and 360, but between Target Decay and 360.

Well I have the GXP and money for either, but not both. I run pretty cool brawler builds, so coolant isn't a "must" for me. How can target decay help a brawler? Simply bc it makes it easier for my mates to help me? That does sound pretty valuable. Kind of sounds like I want all 3, but I sure would miss my cap mod. I know it may sound weird, but I find the cap mod to be a brawlers best friend.

If you're not running Streak-SRMs, or LRMs, then target-decay is of really no use to you.

Your not looking at the long view.

First, do you think just because you brawl that you can defeat the entire team by yourself? The answer is probably no and having target decay will often times save your rear end when your down to a red CT and that last minute LRM swarm comes flying in to save the day.

Additionally on this point, without your team helping you out, your going to die much faster which mean you will do less damage and earn less XP and credits the less you help your team out.

Second, think about how many times do you have an enemy mech drop briefly from view just long enough to lose targeting lock, then when it comes back into view, think about how long it takes for it to come back up. Those are precious seconds that you have no idea about the vulnerabilites of the enemy and could mean the difference between life and death.

The only thing that is worthy of GXP time and effort is still ONLY the Seismic sensor.

Possibly the cap accelerator as well but that remains to be seen.

The rest of the modules are "meh"

It is 360 degree target retention, so if mech moves behind you, you can keep them targeted, useful only for streakes, and only if you have some aversion to turning around and shooting them, in almost every case advanced target decay is better, it actually helps you when the enemy is infront of you or behind you.
Of course neither is all that useful if you don't have LRMs or Streaks

I wouldn't compare 360 to siesmic, they are used for completely differnt purposes.. Siesmic doesn't assist with targeting, it just lets you know someone is near, 360 (and decay) are targeting enhancers.

thats how I use it, on my lights as I run through a battle so I can keep a target for my missile boats. I also keep an eye on the missiles, and a second before impact flip around and TAG them.

Well you guys sold me to the extent that I did get 360, but am now saving for target decay. Also realized as I looked at them, the target info gathering, for a brawler, might be a golden egg as well. So glad they don't charge me MC to swap these out, like WoT. :P
