Prepare your rage people! The CBILL grind is worse than before and is here to stay!
Not happy Jan...

Hello Troutmonkey,
Once again, we thank you for your feedback. We understand that players are shocked by the C-Bill earnings changed. Please understand that as an online game, MechWarrior Online is subject to constant tweaks and adjustments, as agreed upon in the terms of use. There are no plans to revert this change, however future changes to the game may offset this change in some ways.
Please keep an eye out for a more in-depth update from the devs regarding this subject in the near-ish future.

Regards,
Reppu

Hello,
I am writing to you as I am very concerned about the recent reduction in CBILL earning.
The patch notes stated the change was to balance the extra potential earnings from an extra four enemies, however this has not worked as intended.
In 8v8 I average about 120-170k CBILLs (with 200k for really really good games) per win without premium time or a hero mech. Usaully the payout for a loss is around 70-100k
With the new changes I recently had my absolute best game ever, with a match score of 110 and MVP status, but only earned me 150k. Unfortunately most wins only net 80-110k – worse than a loss in the old system.
What’s worse is that match losses are only earning about 60k, regardless of my apparent efforts/kills.
Running my Hero Mech (yes, I am a paying customer) only slightly improves the situation, but the net result is still a reduction of around 30% CBILL gain.
This is ultimately compounded by the fact that matches take about twice as long as they used to, resulting in a massive reduction in CBILLs per/hour.
Please return CBILL earnings to previous values.
The grind was bearable before, but now it is simply too much to take, and I will not be purchasing premium time to compensate for this.

Regards,
Faithful MWO player

Looks like MWO is about to lose a LOT of paying customers. Me included.

We already had an official statement that they intentionally lowered our income (and just did not have the balls to openly say it in the patch notes), as discussed here:

Lose people? Why? I welcome the change, and it makes me play more, as effort and time put into achieving something make it more valuable and interesting.

for hard-core Players -> yes may be but for casual an especially for new Players it kills the game - that System at launch... well it doesnt need much immagination seeing whats goint to happen.... Personally i reduced my Budget for this game to excatly 0€ the new Player expirience was bad bevor and ist now hopeless -> 2 of my friend already quittet and i surely cant recommend the game in ist actual state to a friend. @PGI -> work on things making the game better (CW, UI 2.0, Clans) and dont waste your time with tweaking the in game currency of a BETA game

well after a week of playing with no premium, i gotta say "it's not a big deal at all"

that said, more pay for bonus stuff/achievements like "kill 3 or mechs in a match, kill 2 or more, 4 or more, cap base, etc etc, and bonus cbills for such things would be nice.

I'm not sure what he meant by paying customers. Maybe he meant just players.

I can say that I had just purchased another 30 days premium time and the rewards for this just doesn't justify the cost. I've had good and bad matches. I can recall winning a few while not doing a great amount of damage and getting 60-80K with premium included. The extra bonus just doesn't seem worth it to me.

I have had premium constantly since last August. Now I don't know if I'll renew.

Was going to purchase Project Phoenix.

Not going to now.

Net cost of this nerf from 1 player. At least 80$.

Hey PGI, fix this, or get bent.

You **** off your paying customers by doing a completely unannounced change, then you proceed to not do anything about it and say that "it's all good"

Well, screw you guys too. Don't expect to earn more money than you were before after shafting your paying customers.

Has anyone thought that maybe, just maybe, there is a plan to add some sort of merc based income. Maybe something like a bonus for belonging to a house or large merc corp. That would make some sense considering they are introducing the loyalty thing. The higher the loyalty thing the higher the house specific bonus and so on. I've always thought that the c-bill gain was rather slow, especially for non-premium members and this thought has been in the back of my mind for some time.

It's sad that the community has been so hostile to the devs for so long that they no longer feel that they can actually leak information. Back in closed beta we had info about EVERYTHING and now you hear barely a word and I think that is mainly do to the huge amount of ******* and moaning. I would get discouraged and disillusioned with this community in their place.

I'm not saying that there aren't things that they could do better, and that there aren't things that they should have done a long time ago (64 bit launcher, dx11 support, sli support) but I do think that maybe we can be a little less "every time there is a slight change threaten to sue them and stop playing" posts.

Thats exactly what they want. Less Cbill purchases of mechs and more purchases with MC and buying of MC.

They are most certainly going to reward you being in a merc unit. Whatever dev it was at that trade show TOLD the interviewer the current model weights the game toward merc players as 'the only ones who actually care about advancing the war.' In his/their view, if you are not in a merc unit, you will be a second class player. I am not top tier, but I am better than a lot of people, and I had no intent to be anything but a Liao regular. Now my friends and I will probably HAVE to make a "merc unit" allied with Liao just to get the full benefit of the game.

I think you're looking back on CB with rose colored glasses. We didn't know a whole lot more then, there was just a lot less to know. Yes, PGI has stopped telling us wild promises, because a lot of the things they said in CB were grossly delayed or dropped in favor of completely different mechanics. If the devs got disillusioned with their own community, it is their fault for hyping the game as being "A" when it is turning out "B."

No one forced them to make the game in 3049, clan invasion imminent, mixed tech madness, heat being a secondary concern, clan mechs/tech generally trumping everything else and being just about the only thing used. THEY chose that point, and a lot of BT fans could have told them those items significantly changed how tabletop worked and who still liked it.

I've seen tons less "I'm quitting" posts these days, and that is scary. Mostly because a huge glut of players already quit, and they quit these days without even bothering to post about it. Go look in the VOIP clients, they're a lot less crowded than they were six months ago. People aren't being dramatic like they were when OP first started. Now they just quit and play something else.

This game isn't Battletech, but PGI told me that a year ago and I had to deal with it. As it stands, the game isn't very much MECHWARRIOR either, certainly not the way the fluff was. Games don't run on fluff, true...but some franchises do. People don't pay Games Workshop prices just because the models are high quality - they play WH/WH40K for the fluff. If they just wanted tabletop gaming they'd consider Malifaux or any of the other modular-map/small-army/independent-manufacturer games that are significantly cheaper and with much simpler rulesets. MWO cannot survive without a core playerbase dedicated to the IDEAS of BT/MW, and a game faithful to that fiction. Otherwise it is just a slower paced, no-respawn, less intuitive competitor to Hawken or any of the other 'drive a thing and shoot other things' F2P games.

Even the FORUMS are less active than they used to be. I check patch notes every few days and the same topics are still on page one. No massive influx of posts, no massive influx of new topics. Considering the forums of any game are ALWAYS a very vocal minority, but vocal nonetheless, one should be concerned with the lessened vocalizations going on here.
