So you suggest to create unit specific quirks. That is by far the most useable approach - but you have to admit that PGI doesn't have shown the abiliy to solve specific problems - and always are using the global nerf or buff hammer....

Correct, at least such arbitrary quirks could be applied to very specific variants. Generic slots don't allow for such an accurate selection because right now boating is possible across the board.

Variety is another aspect where work on hardpoints could help but this is another topic.

About hammers, balance is a topic that would require a very careful approach but they seem to go for either quick and dirty solutions for complex problems or for inexplicably complex solutions for simple problems.

We need hardpoints limitations because the phantom heat breaks MANY of the stock configs on certain mechs. Hunchie 4P? alpha shut down in its stock form. And with the 100% heat threashold damage, it takes a significant amount of internal damage. Awesome 8Q, 9Q, etc....

Not to mention all the mechs are kinda the same now. I can run 2ERPPC and gauss on so many chassis it kinda makes buying new chassis pointless. Certain mechs with certain abilities should be unique. Awesomes should be the only mechs to carry 3-4 PPC, victors and huchies are known for the AC20 they carry, Twin gauss mechs should be rare (king crab anyone?) not the norm.

Please PGI... implement a hardpoint limitation. Give each chassis a unique flavor and stop the boring same old same old loadouts.
