In summary, the various reasons presented thus far for the miscommunication:

1. Exclusive doesn't mean exclusive
2. Exclusive was a typo
3. The words "Exclusive Phoenix Pattern" over the Flame pattern unlock were actually referencing the hero phoenix mechs that have an unchangable pattern as seen on other heroes.
4. Exclusive? I don't see that word anywhere! Where is it?

Did I miss any?

well I don't think anyone's said them but PGI's standards could appy
1 that was position at the time
2 we didn't make it non exclusive because we don't care, we made it non exclusive because we care too much
3 exclusive is just a line in the sand
Did I miss any?

Still don't know why it SHOULD be exclusive

It should be exclusive since it's - in their own words - "the ultimate loyalty reward". Loyalty, in this context, is defined as paying $20-$110 for a Phoenix and/or Saber package.

It was dangled in front of fence-sitting prospective buyers to get them to commit; the least they can do is give them the exclusive pattern they promised and have it actually be exclusive.

As someone else posted; I was under the impression that it was going to be something to distinguish Phoenix 'mech regular variants that were pre-ordered from those that are later bought for CB so as to make those a bit more exclusive as well (if the Flame pattern hadn't unlocked or if it is available for anyone there's nothing distinguishing a pre-ordered standard Locust from one purchased with CB in November).

So the position has changed on whether or not a stretchgoal for a purchase, that was exclusive to the people who paid? Now everybody gets it because reasons?

This is pretty terrible. Why are you doing this? Are you going to repackage founder packages for everybody, too?

It depends on what the meaning of the word "is" is.

How did any of you think Phoenix would not come with new and terrible ghost mechanics? Behold, the birth of Ghost Exclusivity.

Ghost flame patterns.
I bet it's gonna cost MC to unlock it on your phoenix mechs, too.

You have to be careful, If you unlock too many in the same hour there is a ghost MC penalty of 50MC per purchase.

You know that the colon means that what follows is related to what precedes it right?

So you're seriously arguing that the Title of the popup has no relation to the content of that popup?

really?

Obligatory reminder that PGI will use the rest of the wording of that popup to their advantage.

The flame pattern will be unlocked for free only on the standard variants included with the Phoenix Pack, phoenix supporters will still need to pay MC to put it on any of their other mechs, and it is not usable on the special Phoenix mechs.

Ah, business as usual here. I'm glad to see, you guys are having fun claiming further about the great liars of PGI!
I wanna try to tell you, what your problem is. Most of you will think "How could you...!!??@#$", some may think "Well, when I think about it..." but say "How could you...!!??@#$" and come along with funny justifications.
The problem is, you DO so incredibly love this game, but, and that's where the core of the problem is, you WANT to hate the game so relentlessly.
This two worlds in your mind are clashing together like two Thunderbolt-Mechs at high speed (maybe not pretty fast, but with a big "booom") and you just don't know how to handle with it.
That's why you keep counting peas, like we say in germany. You're looking for the smallest evidences to make PGI the bad guys. And in the end, maybe you can hate them in sweet harmony with yourself.

Nah mang, I'm just here for the delicious pubbie tears. Doesn't matter if I cause 'em or PGI do.

On my work computer, the green balls are indeed green. But I saw them for the first time on my home computer, definitely yellow. I don't know what to believe anymore...

LOL, you're adorable. I hope your nerd rage keeps you warm at night.

Getting a pattern that wasn't even offered when most people were buying in, and you're bitching... hilarous

Wow, I hadn't thought about it that way. Actually this has opened my eyes. PGI's so generously given us things like the new camera view, the extended beta period prior to CW's release, the awesome new ghost heat calculus, and the pay-for consumables. I mean we never expected any of this being offered, we ought to be adding them to our Christmas card lists.

It's downright hilarous how much extra content we've been given; seriously though those heat scale charts and lookup tables really bring that extra tabletop feeling to the mech design process, how did we ever complain about that?

Let's pack it in boys.

This argument is lame.

Is the flame pattern going to count for the sabre reinforcements?
