They did talk in the past about mech customizations, such as alternative heads for an atlas, etc. *sighs dreamily* Alas, I doubt we'll see such awesomeness anytime soon.

Would be nice.

Notice how in your updated chart, we still don't know how far we really are to each unlock, and still don't know what the final point is.

Oh, this is funny. So, so true.

I'd like an external customization that we could do in order to make things like that. For example... Kintaro, "Arm-pit shields," plates of metal that come from the armpits of the Kintaro to protect the CT from the sides.

The Kintaro needs to simulate "arm pit glands" to show how much missile weight it is carrying under its arms...

It's just like the Steam sale bar. Big deal.

Okay, the paintjobs have convinced me to get the Storm package...

I doubt I'll pilot the Shadowhawk (Light 'mechs now and forever), but the paintjob sold it.

I may be critical of some of PGI's development decisions, but I believe that this game can still reach it's full potential, so I purchased an Overlord package. Decide to throw $10 at the Sarah's mech as well to support a worthy cause, since I too have lost family members to cancer.

This is AWESOME! This TOTALLY makes me forget about the C-bill nerf and ghost heat!

ZOMG! WHERE!?

But seriously though...

So here's a serious question. What's your average earnings?

Mine's higher with the "nerf." I'd average around 118 to 127,000 . I now average 130,000 or more, typically in the 137 to 144,000 range.
This one, I wasn't particularly trying but thought I'd quote it because ~this~ amount is what I used to earn before the nerf with a hero mech. The screen, btw, was taken 8/17/2013.
Posted Image
Most of my LRMs missed, I had an AC/2, a medium laser, and I did some brawling.

I'm just curious. Have you taken a look at your earnings, and what are you doing to earn it?
What I've noticed is I'm rewarded a lot more frequently for things that help out other team members, and paid less for stealing other people's kills and damage dealt. A picture in another thread showed someone doing lots more damage and having less payout. Here, I flashed a couple of tags and saved a couple of people from getting killed.
----
On a side note: The ghost heat system is awful. There's no defending it. A better use of the scripting is an accuracy punishment (wait, that's Homeless Bill's system with almost the same scripts).

Or even better, a pre-set capacity (maximum heat until shutdown) all across the board (Hit 30? SHUTDOWN! Hit 45? DIE instead of this "herp-derp I got 10 DHS, I get 50 while you only get 40. But now I got 16 DHS plus unlocks and here I am at 76 or more!") or pre-defined for each mech, "Awesome gets this much capacity. Victor gets this much. Blackjack gets this much. Centurion gets that much," etc.

The folks responsible for bug fixes != to the folks responsible for putting these mechs into place. And as has been stated by a few already, there were a number of people who didn't get the PC Gamer colors, so why begrudge those that didn't get that chance the opportunity for more colors?

I'm not begruding those that missed out on PC Gamer colours, but I do see this as a ploy to target fresh blood. PGI have no choice but to focus on the gullibility of new players because they've done a pretty good job shafting their original player base. Strangely enough, some of the original player base is still falling for these shiny offerings, despite the state of the game. If I were a sensible person I'd wait to launch and see what the "launch product" delivers before putting more money in this.

True, but how will new players be able to compete with that without buying Hero mechs and/ or Premium time?

I used to get in the 200,000 with my Founders bonus and premium. I haven't broke 200,000 since the nerf.

That's where the game needs to be able to teach you. Perhaps a clear cut definition of rewards and bonuses. Think there's one in the FAQs but it's out of date. I do know some of the bonuses that used to be one time deals? They repeat now.
------------------------
Also if you want huge cash, I made 6,500 * 6 savior kill assists+ component destruction 2099 + kill 4300 for a single AC/2 shot. 6 guys were almost dead during one match and a Cataphract 4x, who also was badly wounded, was tearing them apart. He had MGs and literally stripped all 6 mechs of their weapons and broke one leg on 5 of them. He was working on the 6th when I intervened.

(Edit: Just thought I'd tally that for you. 45,399 for one shot. That wasn't in the case shown above, however. Different match.)

Any enemy that has engaged allies who are below a certain point of health will get you a Savior Kill Assist. The more involved, the bigger the cash value.

Just something to think about.

Challenge accepted.
Will try without -- though it's a bit of work.

But I already beat it if the condition is with Premium.
146,157 + stated 73,079 Premium bonus if I had it = 219,236
And that's just if I add only Premium to that random number above me.
It'd take Premium + Hero bonuses to make that kind of money in the old system.
--- But I know that some rewards now repeat and these are rewards associated with helping your team.
Worried about your earnings? Help your team more.

Not to mention forcing people to spend $80 just to get the one mech that is actually worth getting.

Anybody else notice that "custom geometry" means "different shoulder armor"?

the shadow hawk is probably the mech that's going to dominate its wait division, nice balance of speed weapons and wepon positioning means it wont run out of steam for most of the match.
the thunder bolt is the first 65T that doesn't suck at close range (both catapult and jagermech can do some damage but they both get rendered useless to fast and sacrifice to much speed for there firepower) the locus was the one I wanted, but i got the thunder bolt since i liked them all but im not an assault fan.

This is all really cool, but why are the Phoenix variants based on the standard fits? Would much prefer the special phoenix variant be similar to a Hero mech, or at least based on one of the better variants, would be a shame to put these cool variants with different geometry on the reserve hangar just because I like one of the other variants better.

they aren't really hero mechs there like the founder mechs which were all stranded variants.

On the second tier why not just a phoenix medallion it would unique. The paint jobs are awesome. One thing that bothers me is the load outs, the locusts loadout will regulate it to mothballs for me right after I get basic. It would be nice if say we had a phoenix slot and choose which locust we want. I have been stuck with the hunchback 4g and I detest that mech I would much rather have the 4sp.

Im assuming they will have more unused weapon slots like a second energy slot in the chest and perhaps two more ballistics. 2 MP and or 4 machine guns sounds like fun.

1 Energy in the CT, 4 ballistic split between the arms for the Phoenix varient. Unfortunately, you can only go 150 after speed tweak with the current 170 engine cap. I'm hoping that gets lifted. 220 would be very nice, or the rather insane 262KMh with a 295XL...but I don't think we'll see over 200 any time soon.

Going the same speed as a spider, with less armor, will likely make the Locust just for fun. At least until the cap is loosened.

They will learn to play just like the rest of us did, why do people assume that all new players are inept? Also, the cadet bonus will still give new players enough cbills to buy almost any mech after 25 games.

they should make the training grounds open to pree made's so people can take new players in and show them how to play, there are a lot of players who have been playing for a wile who probably need to be shown some tactics like the ones who abuse the wining teem for base capping when they just stuck together as one big mob looking for a face to face shoot out, lack of teem awareness is a problem as well like blocking line of sight.

I agree it looks uglier than sin in the mechbay because the dirt looks like burnt paint in the dark room.

But here's that Founder's camo before and after on actual maps.

Current. Note: Since it's not me I don't know if that's the default blue or not.
Posted Image

Original: This one is me.
Posted Image

Doesn't strike me as that bad in the field.

The texture is a little lower resolution (something we knew would happen when art overpasses come along to make room for the weapon model textures), and the blue is different. Welp, swap your blue for a bluish teal? Personally my own runs orange-ish red.

But on a separate note when looking at the dirt on the mech this has me wondering: How come "Filthy" and "Rusted" aren't available patterns for our mechs? Just imagine, you could have your own junk heaps! I'd pay the average 750 for it.
