To clarify for those who didn't see 3PV in the tests -

You can't see your own mech that well. It's a poor vanity view.

But... I want a vanity view. :)

After I read this, I quickly uninstalled MWO test server.

PGI test server:

The reason there are no patch notes is that everyone in this thread is beïng trolled by PGI. There are just some things that make me go: :) what? PGI is just doing what a lot of people are doing on the forums, and this time it's their turn.

Chapeau PGI.. chapeau!

A note about 3PV:

The point is to help newbies with situational awareness as it pertains to how a 'mech moves in its environment. If it accomplishes that ("oh, I see, so which way my legs are pointing is where I move, but I can look around independent of that. So it's like WoT, not CS"), and encourages them to switch to 1PV once they get the basics down, then I'd say working as intended.

This means you'll find yourself saying "Who the hell designed this?" when you realize you're staring squarely at your mech's back and shoulders, your hips and legs nowhere in sight.

Apparently they weren't giving the 2xPPC+Gauss 'mechs a fair chance, so they had to be nerfed.

Okay! Okay! It's all my fault! I was having too much fun gunning down 2xPPC+Gauss packing mechs with my 6xMG+2xERLL JM6-DD that I just couldn't stop. And most of those kills were during my suicidal "BANZAI!!!" charges.

Played it on test. It did not succeed at any of those goals, and is a real turnoff to new players. It's only use is this down here:

My fear is that you will be able to see over cover safely, see whats on the other side with out exposing your self, then switch to 1PV and then pop up, fire, move back, go back into 3PV. This WILL happen.

Yup. That's all I saw on test.

I am confused. Are people in first person view going to be going up against people in 3rd person view? I though that wasn't going to happen? Or did I just read this wrong?

Surprisingly, I don't have a problem with 3pv/1pv being in the same queue. The disadvantages of 3pv seem like a good tradeoff on the additional fov. And they said they're looking at adding a cooldown to changing back and forth (which could be in this patch for all we know). It reminds me of the cool drone thing from the Mechwarrior 5 trailer, and splitting the community is ALWAYS a bad idea. So yeah, I'm ok with this.

You can switch back and forth on the fly. Its also kind of BS because they said we wouldn't have to play with them.

You read it right. The problem is, PGI lied. Sorry, that was just "their view at the time" that there would be separate queues. They pulled a fast one on us. We gave them a second chance after they lied about consumables. They just did it again.

Machine guns definitely needed to be nerfed. The problem though was that they added the 15% damage translation from components to internals, which for machine guns read something like 1000% increase in damage to internals.

It wasn't a 1000% increase to internals. I have an excel where I calculate these things and MG's did 2.71 dps to internals instead of the 1.0 they do to armor. So that's a 171% increase. After today's nerf they do 2.04 dps to internals which means a 104% increase.

Is no one else curious about the discrepancy where it states the HBK-4G torso pitch will REMAIN at 25 degrees? But it used to be 16 degrees, so is this an increase, or wil it remain at 16?

Making 3pv default is brilliant - how else can PGI argue that most new players use 3pv? The lying is getting a bit pathetic though.

It seemed that you dont read it wrong.
It seems to happen that we all play together in a happy family with exploiting the tool, wich is meant for new players by some "pro" players

I haven't been on the test server myself, so I'll take your word for it. However, I also expect it'll be tuned over time like everything else. PGI knows getting this one right is important and I suspect they'll be working on it regularly for a while--this is still a beta, core features (like UI 2.0 and a tutorial system) are still coming online.

I can't wait to get back into my Ilya with 3x U/AC 5s!

I do believe 1st/3PV are mixing company, since they tested them together earlier this month and feedback seemed generally positive that 3PV was not going to be gamebreaking. There will be a small camera drone above the mechs with 3PV activated, which is the counterbalance for the advantage in visibility around/above cover.
