The 3PV is way less overpowered than you guys are thinking: it's barely useful.

One thing I don't like is that 1) your weapon groups are all reset and 2) this patch is REAL unstable. Had four crashes in ten games after zero in the last three months.

it isnt about op-ness. its about the constant pattern of lies, misdirection, and abuse. coupled with the fact that it is only selectively useful, to people who have a clue as to how to abuse it.

so the competitive guys don't like it because it offers a fast recon advantage to teams that use it selectively.

newbies wont like it because it's useless for what they pitched it as, since you cant see your legs very well to determine orientation.

and I don't like it because it's a sign of just how mismanaged this game has been from day 1.

They dont care about polls. There was a poll about how the people dont want this at all that was like 5000 to one against, and they sait it wasnt representative of the community.

So if you start to interpret what the other thinks, likes or uses, then i think you have no idea at all, you hate 3pv because you dont know how to use it and only spread troll and hate.

I'm starting to think the island they are referring to is more like a large continent (think Australia) and the mainland PGI is on... is nothing more than a sand berm in the middle of the ocean.

By all means, I and 95% of the mechwarrior community are comfortable on this island continent. I see a shitstorm brewing, be a shame if that small sand dune PGI is on gets washed away...

This is hillarious. All the ppl complaining about how unfair 3pv is..and then all ppl trying 3pv saying how bad it is.

Basically it's useful to maybe see what you are stuck on, or to check out your paint scheme. I mean if you REALLY want to play that way you can...with arm lock, partial HUD...

Yeah...it's really OP...

How about your try it before you complain about it. Honestly, it would appear they did a good job limiting the functionality of it.
Maybe there are some advantages. But there are disadvantages too.

Seems balanced.

HA...exactly..it's not all that great. ECM is way more OP than this could ever be, and in fact..I look forward to the cheeseball running ECM and 3pv trying to be all covert, and eating a ton of dumb fired LRMS, gauss/ppc, etc because he's got a red strobe floating over him.

So everyone plays third person whether they want it or NOT.

You don't have to play in 3PV mode. But, there is no assurance that no one is playing 3PV in the same match. That is all. :(

You can use 3rd person view to scout and see mechs behind buildings/walls/hills. With the F4 function it is easy to switch back to 1st person view and engage. It is really ridiculous and needs to go away. Or if you are hiding behind a hill and cannot see the enemy just pop into 3rd person view, see the enemy, and engage or run. Not to mention the fact, very few people asked for it and they said last year they were not going to do it. How is it going to attract new players? The appeal is piloting big robots and blowing stuff up. If that is not appealing then 3rd person view isn't going to make it more appealing. It is just dumb and makes no sense for them to do it.

Well, I guess I can live with people using 3PV in it's current form. True, it was a kick in the junk from PGI, but I am hoping they will give us the Orion soon and that they will hit it out of the part with CW.

Someone brought up a good point; cheating, but not the kind they were thinking of. If you use w/e search engine you're fond of you'll see there are working cheats for this game, but I haven't been headshot several times out of say 10 matches in quite awhile. I'm now wondering how much this will let them come up with new and more deadly cheats, thought I know that's NOT what PGI intended. I'm just wondering if we're going to see a lot more. I certainly hope not!! I have invested a lot of money into this game.

Are u kidding. So there is nothing like this in the game already? Uhm. Like. Seismic? And that doesnt have a blinky red camera above your mech

Please...this is not call of duty or anything. And you can barely use it to peak over hills. Seismic and ecm are way more powerful than this. Have u even tried it? I did, just to see what all the qq was about.

Pretty much acceptable in its current form. From someone who play 1st person. As u stated this is big stompy robots. Cameras are that high tech and we have uavs already.

if this was a module and it had limited uses then that would be fine

The one good thing about it is that at least it's done as a drone, which is less immersion breaking.

I'm still very disappointed though that PGI broke its word about the separate queues, and also, that they weren't upfront about their change of plans.

The policy has almost always been.. we'll let you know AFTER it is completed to our liking.

Then again, we have the Kintaro.
