mandatory - you mad bro?
I think you are confusing listening with blindly following the desires of the community. PGI should listen, and I think generally they do. They then choose the course of action they think best. Just because it is not what you or I or even a majority of the community thinks is the best course of action does not mean they don't listen. Reasonable people can disagree.
Yes, here is the problem with that logic. When the majority of your customer base disagree with you, the company, they tend to not buy what you're selling. When you continue down that path, over and over again with things like ECM/ELO/feature priorities/etc they stop buying. They can honestly disagree with the majority of the community all they like, at the end they'll have what they view as the best game ever... with no revenue to support it.

There's a serious quality difference between the game that hasn't even hit alpha yet and the game that is three weeks from release. Surprising, given that they're using the same engine.
The real surprise is that spaceship game hired the guys from the mech mod, and the mech mod guy only became available because the mech mod ended up shutting down in light of this mech game we're discussing here today.

Sounds like something a 13 year old would think was cool. Can't wait.

Just because they do not do what you demand does not mean they are not listening.
That is correct but do you have any proof that they are listening? We can only judge them by actions and this far they show nothing but contempt, ineptitude or insanity.

Patch days often attract old, bitter veterans. They return for a day, reinstall, patch up, and bring out the big guns. It's possibly why that other guy has been seeing landslides, because of competent four-man groups giving it a spin. They'll quickly grow disappointed and wander off again, perhaps never to return.

Given that it's in the current drop type selection, just grayed-out, I suspect that PGI ran into some problems with setting up the different queues but plans to push it through as soon as possible. Otherwise, why not just wait until UI 2.0 to put the option in the menu at all?
Of course, some kind of communication about such things would be a welcome addition to the patch notes.
The problem is spelled a dwindling amount of players.
Why sugar coat it? Never is as absolute a statement as it is possible to make.

Edit :: Also, 3PV is perfect for looking over buildings in my atlas to check the dropship ridge for poptarts.
Seriously, if you say it doesn't have advantages you must be blind.

Win or lose, it's been by a landslide all afternoon.
You may be experiencing a sickness we like to call "high Elo". Symptoms include PPC/Gauss, teams full of terrible players to balance the higher Elo players, and much apathy. The cure involves uninstalling and whining non-stop on the forums.

I'm sure they can adjust it.
Yes, because they are so well known for listening to our feedback in the past.

So (competent) people will only use it to peek behind cover and then go back to first person.
But that is not the point. The point is that PGI said never and nothing else.
